The Cast & Director Of "Bird Box" Discuss The Film

When a mysterious force decimates the world’s population, only one thing is certain: if you see it, you take your life. Facing the unknown, Malorie finds love, hope and a new beginning only for it to unravel. Now she must flee with her two children down a treacherous river to the one place left that may offer sanctuary. But to survive, they'll have to undertake the perilous two-day journey blindfolded. Colson Baker, also known as Machine Gun Kelly, Rosa Salazar, Lil Rel Howrey, Danielle Macdonald and Susanne Bier took the BUILD stage to have a conversation about Netflix's "Bird Box."

>>> THANKS, EVERYBODY. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THAT WAS SO NICE, ALL THAT CLAPPING. WELCOME TO "BUILD.” WHEN THE COLLAPSE OF CIVILIZATION COMES, WHICH IT WILL, PROBABLY SOONER THAN LATER, HOW WILL YOU FARE? HOW WILL YOU TAKE CARE OF NOT JUST YOURSELF, BUT OTHERS AS WELL? "BIRD BOX," STARRING SANDRA BULLOCK, DIRECTED BY THE GREAT SUSANNE BIER, WITH GREAT PERFORMANCES ALL AROUND. TAKE A LOOK.

>> STORY TIME, EVERY SINGLE SUMMER WE WOULD TAKE TO THE LAKE. AND THERE WAS LOVE. AND THERE WAS FAMILY. IT WAS A WONDERFUL TIME.

>> OH, MY GOD! SHE SAW SOMETHING.

>> WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? PLEASE STOP IT!

>> A CHEMICAL ATTACK. IT'S EVIL. IF YOU SEE IT, IT TAKES ON THE FORM OF YOUR WORST FEARS.

>> EVERY FORM OF CONTACT WE'VE HAD WITH THE OUTSIDE HAS BROUGHT US DEATH.

>> SOMEONE IS COMING FOR US.

>> IS ANYONE THERE?

>> HELLO.

>> WE HAVE A PLACE. IT'S SAFE HERE. THE FASTEST WAY TO GET HERE IS BY THE RIVER. THE BIRDS WILL WARN YOU WHENEVER THOSE THINGS ARE AROUND.

>> WE ARE GOING ON THE TRIP. NEVER TAKE OFF YOUR BLINDFOLD. WE WILL MAKE IT.

>> YOU GO!

>> OPEN YOUR EYES.

>> NO. NO, NO, NO. PLEASE, DON'T TAKE MY CHILDREN!

>> DO YOU HEAR THAT?

>> EVERYBODY, FROM "BIRD BOX” PLEASE WELCOME COLSON BAKER, ROSA SALAZAR, LIL' REL, DANIELLE MacDONALD. AND SUSANNE BIER.

>> WHAT UP?

>> HEY.

>> YOU'RE SUCH A WONDERFUL FILMMAKER AND YOU ALWAYS HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK EVERY TIME YOU GO OUT TO DO IT.

>> THANK YOU.

>> I REALLY RELATED TO THIS FILM. I FELT LIKE EVERY TIME I OPENED MY EYES FROM THE OUTSIDE WORLD I ALSO WANT TO DIE RIGHT NOW.

>> GOOD WAY TO START THINGS.

>> LET'S START IT OFF LIGHT. LET'S JUST GET INTO IT. WHAT DREW YOU TO THIS STORY, THOUGH? WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO MAKE THIS FILM?

>> IT'S REALLY FUNNY YOU SAY THAT. I READ IT SEVEN YEARS AGO, AS DID SANDRA BULLOCK AND NONE OF US FELT ANY REASON TO DO IT SEVEN YEARS AGO AND KIND OF LAST YEAR WE BOTH FELT A STRONG REASON TO DO IT.

>> AND OH, MY GOD, EVERY TIME I OPEN MY EYES, IT'S WORSE.

>> THAT'S WHAT I MEAN. I'M LOOKING BACK AT YOUR FILMS. YOUR FILMS ARE ALWAYS -- NOT ALWAYS BUT WHAT THEY'RE SO PHENOMENAL AT ARE THESE INTENSE CLOSE DRAMAS BETWEEN PEOPLE THAT ALWAYS CULMINATE IN A MOMENT OF VIOLENCE OR SOME SORT OF HORROR, BROTHERS WHERE IT IS AN INTENSE DRAMA THAT TURNS INTO SOMETHING -- ALMOST HAS A VIOLENT PEAK TO IT. IS THAT A REASON WHY YOU THINK YOU WERE SORT OF PERFECT TO DIRECT THIS FILM? DID IT FEEL LIKE IT WAS IN YOUR WHEELHOUSE?

>> BECAUSE I'M SO INTRINSIC VIOLENT? NO.

>> ANY DRAMA THAT CULMINATES IN A MOMENT OF DESTRUCTION.

>> NO, FOR SURE. I ALWAYS HAVE HAD A KIND OF EXTREME INTEREST IN SOMETHING WHICH IS WHATEVER YOU CAN SAY LIKE THE DARK SIDE OF ANY CHARACTER, LIKE PEOPLE WHO ARE ESSENTIALLY GOOD BUT SOMEHOW GETS INVOLVED IN SOMETHING WHICH DRIVES THEM TO DO SOMETHING WHICH IS NOT GOOD OR VIOLENT OR WHATEVER. I'VE ALWAYS BEEN VERY FASCINATED BY THIS. THIS IS AN EXTREME VERSION OF IT.

>> YOU GUYS ARE KIND OF ALL -- I DON'T WANT TO GIVE TOO MUCH AWAY. THE FUN OF WATCHING THE MOVIE IS NOT KNOWING WHAT IS NEXT. FOR THE MOST PART, YOU ARE TRAPPED IN A HOUSE TOGETHER FOR A LARGE PART OF THE FILM. A NUMBER OF GREAT ACTORS OUTSIDE OF YOU GUYS ARE IN THAT HOUSE AS WELL, JOHN MALKOVICH, SANDY B. WHAT WAS IT LIKE SHOOTING ALL THOSE SCENES TOGETHER? EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE TENSE SCENES WERE YOU ALL HAVING FUN HANGING OUT IN THE HOUSE?

>> FOR THE MOST PART, IT WAS BOTH, RIGHT? IT FELT LIKE WE WERE REALLY IN THIS -- THE HOUSE IS REALLY TAPED UP. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE WEATHER IS OUTSIDE. YOU DON'T KNOW IF IT'S STILL SUNNY OUTSIDE. YOU DON'T KNOW IF IT'S NIGHTTIME YET. EVEN WHEN WE TOOK OUR BREAKS, IT WAS STILL IN THE HOUSE.

>> WERE YOU IN A REAL HOUSE OR WAS IT A STUDIO?

>> NO, WE WERE IN A REAL HOUSE AND IT WAS EERILY SIMILAR.

>> HAUNTED. THERE'S A COOL STORY BEHIND IT.

>> YEAH. HE STAYED THERE FOR A BIT.

>> IT'S ONE OF THE HOUSES THAT --

>> HE DIED WHILE WE WERE SHOOTING IT SO THEN IT FELT EXTRA CREEPY AND THERE WERE FIRES WHILE WE WERE SHOOTING AND ASH FALLING OUTSIDE. WE HAD SOME WEIRD MOMENTS ON SET, RIGHT?

>> IT WAS A PICTURE OF A GUY, PICTURES OF THIS GUY GROWING UP FROM WHEN HE WAS A LITTLE KID, WENT TO COLLEGE WITH HIS FRIENDS.

>> THE GUY WHO OWNED THE HOUSE?

>> I DON'T KNOW WHO THIS DUDE IS. IT WAS A LITTLE ROOM.

>> LIKE NICHOLSON IN THE SHINING?

>> YOU DON'T KNOW IF HE WAS DEAD AND THE PARENTS MADE A SHRINE OF HIM. IT WAS STILL KIND OF LIKE -- YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.

>> YOU WONDER EVERY DAY, WHO IS THAT GUY? WHERE IS THAT GUY? ALSO JOHN MALKOVICH WALKING AROUND WITH A SHOTGUN AT ALL TIMES.

>> AND TALKING TO BIRDS AT AT ALL TIMES.

>> WHEN WE'RE NOT FILMING.

>> WHY?

>> WELL, I THINK I HAD A BIT OF FUN TRAPPING THOSE GUYS, A BIT LIKE THEY WERE TRAPPED IN THE MOVIE AND THEY DID KIND OF BUILD AN INTENSE RELATIONSHIP AND THEY WERE HAVING FUN ARGUING, EVERYTHING.

>> BUT DID YOU GO UP TO JOHN AND YOU WERE LIKE TO MAKE THIS REALLY WORK I NEED YOU TO, AT ALL TIMES, WALK AROUND WITH A SHOTGUN AND TALK TO BIRDS?

>> I DIDN'T HAVE TO. THAT CAME VERY NATURAL.

>> THAT WAS JUST PART OF HIM.

>> IT LITERALLY BECAME PART OF HIM. LIKE I SAID, HE WOULD GET A NUT, LIKE ONE CASHEW AND HE HAS A BIG SHOTGUN.

>> I DIDN'T REALIZE UNTIL I SAW THE FILM -- I THOUGHT HE WAS TALKING TO THE BIRDS FOR THE FILM. YOU REALLY DID THAT IN THE MOVIE BECAUSE HE WAS JUST DOING IT CONSTANTLY. LIKE CUT. WE'RE WORKING ON STUFF. WE NEED TO DO THIS AND YOU WOULD HEAR HIM. AND THEY WOULD TALK BACK TO HIM.

>> HAD A CONNECTION. THEY WOULD TALK BACK. HE'S AMAZING WITH ANIMALS. IN A GOOD WAY. I'VE SEEN THIS IN A POSITIVE WAY.

>> I LOVE JOHN BUT IT WAS -- AND HE LOVES BASKETBALL.

>> GREAT WITH BITMOJIS, YES. HE AND JACKIE WEAVER MADE ME GET BITMOJI.

>> JOHN MALKOVICH TEXTS BITMOJIS?

>> HE WOULD COME OVER AND SAY IS THIS A FUNNY ONE TO SEND TO MY WIFE? YEAH, JOHN MALKOVICH.

>> HE'S THE COOLEST, MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSON ABOUT EVERYTHING. HOW DO YOU KNOW EVERYTHING? IT'S AMAZING.

>> IT SOUNDS LIKE AS MUCH AS THIS IS A TENSE THRILLER, YOU ALL HAD A FUN TIME WHILE MAKING IT.

>> WE ACTUALLY REALLY DID, YEAH. I THINK WE HAD NO CHOICE. I THINK OUT OF ANYTHING I'VE DONE, YOU GO TO YOUR OWN TRAILERS. I DON'T KNOW IF YOU DID THAT ON PURPOSE WHERE THE TRAILERS WERE SO -- WHERE WE HAD TO BE --

>> GENIUS.

>> I KNEW YOU WERE DOING IT ON PURPOSE.

>> OF COURSE. OF COURSE.

>> WHEN WE WERE ALWAYS AT THE TRAILER, JUST THE TWO OF US.

>> YOU WOULD SEND THEM OFF ALONE.

>> WHY ARE WE HERE TODAY? IT WAS 12 HOURS OF US HANGING OUT.

>> TRYING TO GET A CONNECTION BETWEEN YOU TWO BECAUSE YOUR CHARACTERS ARE --

>> IT WAS HARD BUT WE FORMED A CONNECTION.

>> ARE YOU GOING TO TALK MORE ABOUT THIS OR --

>> NO.

>> OKAY.

>> WELL, YOU CAN'T -- NOW -- I'M A SHARK. I SEE BLOOD. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON.

>> NO SPOILERS. NO SPOILERS.

>> OKAY.

>> BUT, I MEAN, FOR SURE, FOR SURE, THERE WAS AN ATTEMPT TO KIND OF PUT THESE GUYS IN A SITUATION SIMILAR TO THE ONE THEY WERE IN, IN THE MOVIE AND IT WORKED, AT LEAST TO A POINT.

>> AND THAT PROBABLY STARTS WITH SHOOTING IN A NATURAL HOUSE RATHER THAN CHOOSING A STUDIO.

>> I LIKE LOCATIONS. I LIKE THE REALNESS. I LIKE THAT THERE ARE THINGS THAT YOU CAN'T CONTROL. YOU KNOW, THERE'S SOMETHING THAT'S NOT WORKING. I LIKE THAT YOU ARE FACED WITH SOMETHING WHICH HASN'T BEEN DESIGNED IN ADVANCE.

>> AND IT WAS REALLY COOL BECAUSE WE'RE IN THAT HOUSE THE WHOLE TIME. WE GOT TO SHOOT IN AUTO, WHICH I'VE NEVER DONE BEFORE IN MY LIFE. THAT'S CRAZY AND INTENSE.

>> WE DIDN'T QUITE SHOOT IN ORDER BUT SORT OF.

>> ORDER.

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH. CAUSE I WAS --

>> I THOUGHT SHE SAID AUTO.

>> I THOUGHT SHE SAID OTTAWA. I'M SO SORRY. I WAS GOING TO LET IT GO. I'M VERY HAPPY HE ASKED.

>> DUBLIN.

>> YOU KNOW, THERE'S SOME WONDERFUL SEQUENCES IN THE FILM WHERE SANDRA BULLOCK IS GOING DOWN RIVER WITH THESE CHILDREN. HOW DIFFICULT WERE THOSE SEQUENCES TO SHOOT? THEY'RE GORGEOUS AND INTENSE.

>> WELL, I MEAN, WE WERE ON A PRETTY FEROCIOUS RIVER AND IT WAS SANDRA AND TWO SMALL KIDS IN THAT RIVER IN A SMALL BOAT AND THAT WAS TRICKY AND DIFFICULT. AND IT WASN'T DANGEROUS, BUT IT FELT DANGEROUS. I MEAN, THAT RIVER IS INSANE.

>> I'M SORRY, RUDE GUYS, WHAT ARE YOU WHISPERING ABOUT BACK THERE?

>> SHE PUT SANDRA BULLOCK IN A REAL FEROCIOUS RIVER.

>> DANGEROUS.

>> SICK FROM DAY ONE. LIKE THIS IS ALL FOR -- WE'RE ALL IN IT AND HEARING YOU CONFIRM ALL THESE THINGS THAT YOU DIDN'T SHOOT.

>> THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING.

>> PUT HER IN A BOAT WITH TWO KIDS.

>> IN THE MOST FEROCIOUS --

>> TAKE ONE.

>> WHITE WATER RAFTING.

>> IS THIS HOW YOU NORMALLY WORK, SUSANNE?

>> SHE'S A NATIONAL TREASURE.

>> I AGREE WITH THAT BUT THAT DOES THAT MEAN TORTURING YOUR ACTORS?

>> NO, NO, NO I'M NOT TORTURING ANYONE.

>> BUT, YOU SEE, YOU KNOW SOMETHING.

>> WE REALIZED SHE WAS DOING IT TILL -- I HAD TO TAKE SOME TIME OFF FROM MY FAMILY AND STUFF BECAUSE I WAS LIKE, AM I LOSING MY MIND? FOR A MINUTE I THOUGHT I WAS LOSING IT. IT WAS SO INTENSE. WE START DOING INTERVIEWS AND FOUND OUT SHE DID IT ON PURPOSE. LIKE WHAT?

>> SAY GO HOME TO YOUR FAMILY AND THERE'S THESE PHOTOS AND THIS GUY.

>> MY CHARACTER HAD TO REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS GOING ON SO THAT WAS ANOTHER THING JOHN MALKOVICH, WORDS I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND. HE WOULD CALL HIS WIFE, BABY, LIL' REL DOESN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS MEANS. CAN YOU EXPLAIN THIS MYTHOLOGY?

>> WE ALL DO A PHENOMENAL MALCOVICH.

>> IS IT NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO DO AN IMPRESSION WITH HIM?

>> I'M THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN'T DO AN IMPRESSION OF HIM BECAUSE OF MY ACCENT.

>> THIS IS A CLOSE-UP!

>> HE MADE OUR STEADY CAM PISS HIS PANTS. HE'S CHARGING AROUND WITH A SHOTGUN, TENSIONS ARE HIGH AND THE STEADY CAM GUY IS RIGHT ON HIM AND HE'S LIKE, THIS IS A CLOSE-UP! AND THE STEADY CAM GUY IS LIKE, OKAY. CITY STILL AROUND?

>> IT WAS ONE SCENE I ALMOST COULDN'T GET THROUGH. IT WASN'T EVEN A FUNNY SCENE BUT JOHN -- B-BEAR MY ASS. I KEPT LOOKING AT HIM AND KEPT BURSTING IN LAUGHTER TO THE POINT -- EVERYBODY WAS MAD AT ME BECAUSE I WAS IN TEARS. JOHN MALKOVICH, B-BIRD BIT MY ASS. I THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY. B-BIRD.

>> WHAT WAS THE TOUGHEST PART TO SHOOT? HANGING OUT WITH THIS CREW?

>> THE RIVER. THE RIVER WAS, YEAH. IN TERMS THE LOGISTIC PRACTICALS, ALL OF THAT. BUT I WANT TO SAY THAT EVERYTHING IN THE HOUSE WITH THESE GUYS BECAUSE IT NEEDS TO BE -- EVERY DETAIL OF IT NEEDS TO BE REAL AND ALL THE TENSIONS GOING ON. IT HAS TO HAVE THAT KIND OF SENSE OF -- YOU KNOW, YOU CAN'T REALLY CHEAT. AND NOBODY CAN CHEAT. AND SO WHEN THERE'S LIKE A GROUP OF AMAZING ACTORS AND ALL OF THESE GUYS AND EVERYBODY WAS NOT IN THIS STUDIO. THEY'RE ALL AMAZING ACTORS. THEN YOU HAVE TO KIND OF FIGURE IT OUT SO THAT EVERY ONE OF THEM GETS SOME REAL ERRANDS AND REAL SPACE AND SOME REAL IDENTITY.

>> STORY TRACKS, TOO, YOU CAN'T REALLY LOSE ANYBODY EVEN IF YOU'RE FOCUSING ON ONE, YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHEN TO CUT BACK, WHICH MEANS GETTING ALL THIS DIFFERENT COVERAGE TO HAVE IN THE EDITING ROOM I WOULD IMAGINE.

>> YEAH, BUT THEY'RE JUST FANTASTIC ACTORS, YOU KNOW. I MEAN, IF WE KIND OF FORGET ALL THE FUN FOR A MOMENT, THEY ARE JUST -- EVERY ONE OF THESE GUYS ARE JUST SO INTERESTING AND SO PERSONAL AND SO CREATIVE. SO IT WAS A REAL PLEASURE, EVEN IF THEY DON'T THINK SO. I THOUGHT SO.

>> I LIKE WATCHING EVERYBODY PROCESS, TOO. IT WAS FUN WATCHING -- YOU KNOW, CERTAIN THINGS IN THE HOUSE, IT WAS ALL OF US DOING SOMETHING TOGETHER AND WATCHING EVERY ACTOR GET BACK INTO THE MODE OF WHATEVER THEIR SITUATION IS. I THOUGHT THAT WAS REALLY FASCINATING. I FELT LIKE I LEARNED A LOT FROM EVERYBODY.

>> WHAT'S COOL ABOUT THAT IS THAT A LOT OF TIMES YOU'RE LIKE, I'M IN A MOVIE WITH SO-AND-SO BUT YOU'VE NEVER DONE SCENES TOGETHER AND THEN YOU'RE REALLY IN A MOVIE WITH ALL OF THESE AMAZING PEOPLE. THERE'S 12 OF US IN A ROOM. SO YOU REALLY GOT TO INTERACT WITH ALL THE PEOPLE THAT YOU WERE EXCITED TO BE IN THIS MOVIE WITH.

>> HOW DID YOU COVER THOSE SCENES WHERE THERE'S 12 OF THEM IN A ROOM? WERE YOU SHOOTING THOSE SCENES OVER AND OVER AGAIN WITH A COUPLE DIFFERENT CAMERAS OR WERE PEOPLE ALLOWED TO LEAVE?

>> NO, NO, NO. THE THING IS -- THE THING YOU NEED TO -- I MEAN, OUT OF RESPECT FOR EVERYONE, YOU DON'T -- SOMEBODY DOESN'T LEAVE BECAUSE HE'S NOT IN A SHOT, HE OR SHE IS NOT IN A SHOT. THEY STAY THERE AND EVERYBODY NEEDS TO BE VERY LOYAL AND VERY -- I MEAN, ACTUALLY, VERY GENEROUS TO EVERYONE ELSE. FOR THAT TO WORK, FOR A GROUP OF ACTORS TO WORK IN THE SAME ROOM, EVERYBODY NEEDS TO BE INCREDIBLY GENEROUS, AND THEY ALL WERE. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM WERE SUPER GENEROUS, SUPER ENGAGED AT ALL TIMES.

>> SAW YOU THROW THE MIKE UP A SECOND AGO WHEN THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT WORKING WITH ALL THE ACTORS IN THE ROOM. IS THERE SOMETHING YOU WERE GOING TO THROW IN THERE?

>> NO. I'M STILL FRIENDS WITH EVERYBODY. SANDY B PICKED OUT MY DAUGHTER'S CHRISTMAS GIFT.

>> CAN WE SAY -- OH, WE CAN'T SAY.

>> I'M ABOUT TO MAKE THIS FAO SCHWARZ RUN. DO YOU WANT TO GRAB SOMETHING FOR YOUR DAUGHTER? I WAS LIKE YEAH. SHE'S LIKE, HOW OLD IS SHE? I SAID 9. SHE SAID WE HAVE TO SWITCH UP THE PLAN. SO WE WERE TRYING TO FIGURE SOMETHING OUT AND THEN I LIKE STOPPED HER AND WAS LIKE, DUDE, STOP. YOU DON'T HAVE TO SEND ME SCREEN SHOTS OF GIFTS LIKE YOU'RE DOING A GIANT MOVIE PREMIER TOMORROW. YOU'RE WAY COOLER THAN I AM. BUT, YEAH, WE ENDED UP FINDING A SOLUTION. BUT THAT WASN'T WHAT I WAS GOING TO SAY. I DON'T REMEMBER WHAT I WAS GOING TO SAY. I'VE HAD SO MANY GOOD TIMES ON SET. SHE WOULD ALWAYS GO IN AND OUT OF -- I DON'T KNOW, KEEPING US IN A MOOD AND SOMETIMES BREAKING UP ONE TIME. I'LL NEVER FORGET, I WAS SITTING THERE, REAL NERVOUS. SHE CAME UP AND SAID I WANT TO CHANGE SOMETHING. FIX THAT AND SHE WAS LIKE THIS. I WAS LIKE, MY FACE? SHE'S LIKE, YES. I DON'T LIKE IT. YOU DON'T SAY CUT. YOU SAY -- IF YOU LIKE IT --

>> THANK YOU!

>> THANK YOU.

>> OH, REALLY?

>> YOU KEEP GOING. KEEP GOING. KEEP GOING TAKE AFTER TAKE AFTER TAKE AND YOU DON'T KNOW YOU GOT IT UNTIL YOU HEAR A "THANK YOU.”

>> HOW DID THAT START FOR YOU?

>> I DON'T KNOW. I THINK CUT IS KIND OF BRUTAL AND CUT MEANS, YEAH, WE'RE GOING TO GO AGAIN AND THEN I KIND OF GO -- IT JUST HAPPENED INSTINCTIVELY. WOW, THIS IS GREAT. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THAT'S HOW IT CAME, I THINK.

>> LET'S GET SOME QUESTIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE.

>> WHAT'S UP, GUYS? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING HERE TODAY. I HAVE TICKETS TO THE SCREENING TONIGHT. I HOPE I CAN GET IN. DANIELLE, YOU PLAYED A RAPPER IN A GREAT MOVIE CALLED "PATTY CAKES.” DID YOU AND MGK EVER THROW DOWN ON SET? AND ALSO, MACHINE GUN KELLY, DID IT INFLUENCE YOUR WRITING AT ALL, PLAYING A CHARACTER IN THIS INSANE MOVIE?

>> WE DID NOT. I'M FAR TOO INTIMIDATED. I CAN'T FREE STYLE OR ANYTHING.

>>

>> HAVEN'T ACTUALLY DONE IT BECAUSE I THINK HE TERRIFIES ME. HE WOULD KILL ME. HE WOULD SLAUGHTER ME. I SHOULDN'T PUT MYSELF IN THAT POSITION.

>> I WASN'T WRITING THAT MUCH DURING THE FILMING OF THAT MOVIE. YOU KNOW, WE WERE IN THE HOUSE FOR TOO LONG AND THE PEOPLE AROUND ME WERE TOO COOL. I WANTED TO TALK TO EVERYBODY. EVERYBODY WAS REAL OPEN. I WAS TALKING ALL THE TIME.

>> YOU HAD YOUR GUITAR, TOO.

>> YEAH, I ALWAYS PLAY WITH MY GUITAR. I GUESS I WAS WRITING. I'M A LIAR. OKAY.

>> REMEMBER WHEN HE WROTE THAT -- NO.

>> NEXT QUESTION.

>> WERE THERE ANY OTHER PROCESSES NECESSARY TO PREPARE FOR YOUR ROLES BESIDES JUST BEING IN A REALLY CREEPY HOUSE?

>> WELL, I KNOW FOR ME AT FIRST I THINK I WENT INTO IT WAY MORE CASUAL THAN I SHOULD HAVE AND THEN ONCE YOU CHALLENGE ME, YOU KNOW, WITH THE INFORMATION THING I WAS LIKE ALL RIGHT, YOU HAVE TO REALLY BECOME CHARLIE. I CAN'T REALLY LIKE TRY TO JUMP IN AND OUT OF IT. SO I WOULD SAY FOR THE LAST WHATEVER I HAD TO DO, I BECAME CHARLIE. IT TOOK A FEW WEEKS TO GET OUT OF CHARLIE. HE'S A WEIRDO. I DON'T WANT TO BE LIKE THIS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. I'M WAY MORE SECURE THAN THIS. BUT I HAD TO OWN HIM. ONCE AGAIN THAT GOES BACK TO YOU DID A GOOD JOB OF -- I COULD TELL YOU KNEW I GOT TO THAT PLACE. LIKE OKAY, HE GETS IT. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO CHEAT THAT A LITTLE BIT, BEING A COME YOU CAN. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME AS AN ACTOR I HAD TO BE LIKE, YOU HAVE TO BECOME THIS. YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE WHAT'S HAPPENING AND RUN WITH IT LIKE THAT. YEAH.

>> I THINK OUR LAST QUESTION. WHAT HAVE WE GOT?

>> I HAVE AN ONLINE QUESTION FROM SERENA. HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING, IF YOU ALL WERE IN THIS HOUSE FOR REAL, WHO WOULD BE THE LAST PERSON STANDING?

>> ME!

>> GOOD ANSWER.

>> PROBABLY.

>> DEFINITELY NOT ME.

>> IF YOU WOULD STOP KILLING THAT THING AND GETTING AWAY, YOU'RE BUGGING. I'M STILL STANDING HERE.

>> I REALLY FEEL LIKE YOU AND I WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME EXACT THING.

>> I THINK IT'S TEAM WORK. I THINK WE'RE ALL STILL HERE.

>> THAT'S A REALLY GOOD QUESTION. THAT'S A QUESTION I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SOMEBODY ASK US AFTER THEY SEE THE MOVIE, ONCE YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT IS.

>> IT WOULD BE ME.

>> YEAH. IT'S VERY --

>> YEENIOUS RIGHT HERE.

>> I MEAN, WHAT ABOUT SANDY, GUYS, NO?

>> OH, YEAH, YO, TEAM LEADER.

>> WE'RE NOT GOING TO REVEAL ANYTHING KIND OF.

>> I'M JUST SAYING --

>> SANDRA BULLOCK DEFINITELY HAS THE CAPACITY TO BE THE ONE KIND OF GETTING OUT OF THERE.

>> I WONDER WHO WOULD SURVIVE OUTSIDE OF THAT. BUT LIKE I SAID, THAT'S A WHOLE OTHER -- I WATCHED THIS THREE TIMES. I'VE OVERANALYZED IT NOW LIKE -- SO THERE'S A LOT OF THINGS. WHAT GLASSES. I THOUGHT ABOUT A LOT OF STUFF. IT'S VERY WEIRD.

>> LIKE NARCOTICS WOULD HELP OR SOMETHING THAT RELEASES -- BECAUSE YOU ARE KIND OF MADE IN IT. YOU'RE KIND OF IN AN ALTERED STATE.

>> YEAH.

>> SO MAYBE YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO --

>> I DON'T KNOW. DO YOU WATCH HORROR MOVIES WHEN YOU TRIP? I DON'T DO THAT. THAT SOUNDS TERRIFYING.

>> SHE'S TALKING ABOUT HOW IT RELATES TO THIS, THOUGH.

>> FAIR.

>> YEAH. WHEN YOU SEE IT, YOU'LL UNDERSTAND.

>> IT MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE WE TAKE THAT ROUTE.

>> DROP SOME ACID AND LOOK AT IT.

>> YOU'RE NOT ALL THAT --

>> I THINK WE'RE STRAYING A BIT HERE.

>> DO YOU WANT TO PULL THEM BACK ON TRACK?

>> YEAH, I DO.

>> I DON'T LIKE IT.

>> I REALLY DON'T LIKE IT.

>> THANK YOU. GUYS, CONGRATULATIONS ON THE FILM. IT APPEARS ON NETFLIX THIS FRIDAY, RIGHT, AT 3:00 IN THE MORNING. IT WILL BE UP THERE, ALL OVER THE WORLD AND PEOPLE CAN CHECK IT OUT. IT'S REALLY GREAT. ANOTHER WONDERFUL FILM BY YOU AND IT'S PRETTY TERRIFYING. EVERYBODY, GIVE THEM A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE. LET'S HEAR IT.
