Milo Ventimiglia & Peter Segal Chat Their Roles In "Second Act"

"Second Act" is a comedy in the vein of "Working Girl" and "Maid In Manhattan." Jennifer Lopez stars as Maya, a 40-year-old woman struggling with frustrations from unfulfilled dreams. Until, that is, she gets the chance to prove to Madison Avenue that street smarts are as valuable as book smarts, and that it is never too late for a second act. Film stars Milo Ventimiglia and director Peter Segal joined BUILD.

>>> HEY, EVERYONE. WELCOME BACK TO "BUILD.” I'M BRITTANY JONES-COOPER. THE NEW MOVIE “SECOND ACT” FOLLOWS MAYA, A 40-YEAR-OLD WOMAN STRUGGLING WITH FRUSTRATIONS FROM UNFULFILLED DREAMS UNTIL SHE GETS THE CHANCE TO PROVE TO MADISON AVENUE THAT STREET SMARTS ARE VALUABLE AS BOOK SMARTS. TODAY, I'LL BE JOINED BY ACTOR MILO VENTIMIGLIA AND DIRECTOR PETER SEGAL BUT FIRST, LET'S CHECK OUT THE TRAILER.

>> WHO'S A CHAMP? LET'S GO. YOU'RE THE CHAMP.

>> I'M THE CHAMP.

>> NOT EASY GETTING A JOB FOR A WOMAN YOUR AGE.

>> WATCH ME.

>> OKAY.

>> NEED TO WEAR ANYTHING OTHER THAN THAT. YOU LOOK LIKE MRS. DOUBTFIRE.

>> WOW. THIS IS MY OFFICE.

>> THEY GAVE YOU AN APARTMENT. CREDIT CARDS.

>> EVERYONE GIVE IT UP FOR MILO AND PETER. HOW YOU GUYS DOING TODAY?

>> GREAT, HOW ARE YOU? HOW ARE YOU GUYS? AWESOME.

>> HOW FUN IS IT THAT PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY GOING TO GET TO SEE THIS FILM? I'M SURE IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS A BLAST MAKING IT.

>> IT WAS A LOT OF FUN. PETE JUST SAID IT WAS A YEAR AGO TODAY THAT THE FILM WRAPPED. LITERALLY. A YEAR AGO AND TODAY WE'RE HAVING THE PREMIERE.

>> PETER, TAKE ME TO HOW THIS CAME TO BE. WHEN DID YOU GET YOUR HANDS ON THE SCRIPT AND WHY WAS IT SOMETHING YOU WANTED TO BE A PART OF?

>> I WAS ON MY WAY TO GERMANY TO DO ANOTHER MOVIE AND I STOPPED IN NEW YORK TO MEET WITH JEN ABOUT THIS MOVIE THAT MIGHT HAPPEN WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR AND THEN I GOT A CALL FROM MY CHINESE PRODUCERS THAT THE MONEY FELL THROUGH ON THE OTHER MOVIE AND SUDDENLY, I WAS AVAILABLE AND COULD WE MAYBE MOVE IT UP A YEAR? AND HER SCHEDULE, I MEAN, BECAUSE LITERALLY, JENNIFER IS THE BUSIEST PERSON ON THE PLANET. SHE'S BALANCING VEGAS WITH TWO TV SHOWS AND EVERYTHING ELSE AND IT WORKED OUT THAT SHE COULD MOVE IT UP. SO WE DID.

>> LET'S TALK ABOUT THE CASTING BECAUSE I THINK THAT'S ONE OF THE SWEET SPOTS IN THE MOVIE. THE CHEMISTRY FEELS SO REAL AND ORGANIC. WHAT WAS THAT LIKE PICKING THESE PEOPLE TO WORK TOGETHER?

>> HE KNOWS THE STORY THAT JEN WAS LIKE JONES AND MILO. SAID, WHAT DO I THINK ABOUT IT? LUCKY TO GET HIM.

>> I FEEL LIKE I WAS THE LAST PERSON ON THE LIST, MEANING, THEY WENT THROUGH THE ENTIRE LIST AND THEN GET TO VENTIMIGLIA.

>> HIM BEING THE FAVORITE MALE STAR AND THEN HER BEST FRIEND LEAH, IT WAS AN EASY CASTING PROCESS. JUST PUTTING HER FAVORITE PEOPLE IN THE MOVIE.

>> MILO, LET'S TALK ABOUT YOU AND JENNIFER. RUMOR HAS IT AROUND BUILD, YOU ACTUALLY MET HERE POSSIBLY FOR THE FIRST TIME.

>> THAT'S VERY TRUE. I WAS KIND OF TRYING TO, I MEAN, LISTEN, I'VE BEEN A HUGE FAN OF JENNIFER'S FOREVER AND I WAS TRYING TO CASUALLY POSITION MYSELF IN MY WAITING ROOM, IN MY GREEN ROOM NEXT TO HER AND RAY LIOTTA'S RESPECTIVE ROOMS AND THE TV WAS ON THE WALL KIND OF TUCKED BEHIND ME. I WAS TRYING TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE I WAS WATCHING WHAT WAS GOING ON THE TV BUT REALLY I'M STANDING SO AWKWARDLY IN THE DOORWAY SO THAT WHEN SHE WALKED PAST, I COULD JUST STOP AND INTRODUCE, OR I COULD INTRODUCE MYSELF. AND SHE FINISHED UP HER TALK WITH RAY AND STEPPED BACK AND SHE WALKED PAST AND I JUST KIND OF STOOD THERE AND LOOKED HER WAY AND SMILED AND SHE SAID, I LOVE YOUR SHOW, BABY, AND JUST KEPT WALKING. AND THEN WE ACTUALLY SHOW AND SAID SHE WATCHED THE SHOW AND WATCH IT ON THE ROAD, HAD A NICE CONVERSATION AND WE HAD THE FIRST TIME WE ACTUALLY MET WAS IN THIS BUILDING HERE.

>> THIS IS WHERE DREAMS HAPPEN. WE MAKE DREAMS COME TRUE.

>> YOU NEVER KNOW WHO YOU'RE GOING TO MEET WHEN YOU'RE HERE.

>> "SECOND ACT" FOR YOU IS A NICE ROM COM. WHAT MADE YOU DO THIS?

>> AGAIN, JENNIFER. I'M A FAN AND WHEN YOU HAVE ONE GREAT ARTIST ASKING YOU TO COME BE A PART OF A PIECE THAT YOU GET TO WORK WITH A DIRECTOR THAT YOU ADMIRED AND ON A STORY THAT YOU BELIEVE IN AND BELIEVE IT'S THE RIGHT TIME TO TELL A STORY LIKE THIS, THAT WE CAN BUST THROUGH THE GLASS CEILING THAT MAYBE WE'RE BUMPING OUR HEADS AGAINST AND PEOPLE THINK THAT THIS IS WHAT OUR LIFE IS BUT WE SEE SOMETHING BETTER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF IT. AND IT JUST FELT LIKE THE RIGHT TIME TO JOIN ON A FILM LIKE THIS.

>> IT WAS SUCH A REFRESHING STORY BECAUSE IT GETS PUT IN THAT ROM COM CATEGORY BUT IT'S REALLY ABOUT A WOMAN FALLING IN LOVE WITH HERSELF AND FINDING STRENGTH AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND THEN LOVE IS A BONUS PART OF THAT STORY BUT FOR ME WATCHING IT, IT WAS SO REFRESHING TO SEE THAT IT WAS REALLY ABOUT THIS WOMAN FALLING IN LOVE WITH HERSELF AND FINDING HER OWN STRENGTH.

>> AND THEY'RE REALLY NOT MAKING MOVIES LIKE THIS TODAY AND I DO HAVE TO GIVE CREDIT TO STX, THE STUDIO WE'RE WORKING FOR. IT'S KIND OF HARKENING BACK TO MIKE NICHOLS KIND OF MOVIE AND OBVIOUSLY SIMILAR DNA TO "WORKING GIRL" BUT THE NICE IDEA ABOUT THE STORY IS THERE'S A TWIST WE CAN'T TALK ABOUT BUT DOES SET IT APART, BUT AS MILO WAS SAYING, TIMING IS EVERYTHING AND THIS, YOU KNOW, COMING AT A TIME RIGHT NOW, I MEAN, I'M IN A HOUSE FILLED WITH WOMEN. MY DAUGHTERS WERE SAYING, YOU KNOW, DAD, THIS IS A GOOD TIME TO TELL THIS STORY.

>> AND IT'S THE DOUBLE MESSAGE TOO OF KIND OF WHERE SOCIETY PUTS US AND PEOPLE FEELING STUCK AND THAT WAS INSPIRING THAT YOU DON'T, YOUR STORY DOESN'T JUST END BECAUSE YOU WERE BORN INTO A CERTAIN SITUATION.

>> EVERYBODY WILL GIVE YOU THEIR VERSION OF WHAT YOU THINK THEIR LIFE SHOULD BE BUT REALLY, THESE ARE ALL OUR INDIVIDUAL LIVES AND IF YOU WANT SOMETHING, GO OUT AND GET IT.

>> AND THAT, YOU KNOW, WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES BUT THAT WE'RE THE SUM OF THE GOOD THINGS THAT HAPPEN TO US AND THE BAD. WE NEED BOTH OF THOSE. THAT'S THE COCKTAIL THAT MAKES US WHERE WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE.

>> AND THEN IT'S ALSO JUST NEVER TOO LATE TO TRY NEW THINGS AND THEN ALSO TO MAKE AMENDS FOR OR TO CORRECT SOME OF THOSE PAST, WITHOUT GIVING TOO MUCH.

>> YOU'RE LIKE, WAIT, WAIT. RIGHT NOW.

>> I WAS STARTING TO GO INTO IT AND ABOUT TO SPOIL ALL OF IT, ABOUT TO BACKTRACK. THE CAST, THE DYNAMICS ARE SO MUCH FUN. WHAT WAS THE VIBE LIKE ON SET? JENNIFER, LEAH, I'VE SEEN THEM IN INTERVIEWS. THEY ARE SO HILARIOUS.

>> IT IS LIKE THAT ON SET, HOW THEY ARE ON THE SCREEN TOGETHER. I JUST KIND OF SAT BACK AND THEN JEN WOULD KIND OF SADDLE UP NEXT TO ME LIKE, PUT HER ARM IN MINE .

>> AND I WOULD FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE AND LEAVE.

>> BUT THE FIRST TIME I SAW JEN AND LEAH TOGETHER, JEN INVITED US OVER TO HER APARTMENT AND TO READ THROUGH THE SCRIPT AND THAT'S WHEN I REALIZED WHEN LEAH'S POKING HER AND PUSHING AND LIKE, INSULTING HER BUT PLAYFULLY, BUT THEY'RE LIKE SISTERS. AND I THOUGHT, WHOA. WE HAVE TO BRING THIS TO THE SET EVERY DAY BECAUSE THIS IS AWESOME. IT'S ACTUALLY SIMILAR TO THE VIBE BETWEEN CHRIS FARLEY AND DAVID SPADE ON TOMMY BOY BECAUSE THOSE GUYS WERE BEST FRIENDS AND ROOMMATES AT SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE AND I WOULD WATCH THEM INTERSECT -- INTERACT AND SAY, DAVE, DOES THIS SUIT MAKE ME LOOK FAT? HE SAID, NO, YOUR FACE DOES. OH MY GOD, WE HAVE TO PUT THAT IN THE MOVIE AND JENNIFER AND LEAH WERE LIKE THAT. THE FACE, THAT WAS A REAL THING.

>> BUT THEN ALSO THE BUTTON IN THE COUNTER.

>> YES, THAT'S, I GET DIFFERENT STORIES. LIKE, AT FIRST, I THOUGHT THAT WAS JUST LEE AND THEN MAYBE JENNIFER SUGGESTING TO LEAH AND THEN ARGUE IT. NO, IT WAS MY IDEA.

>> BUT LEAH DID IT. SHE DID IT AND JEN IS LIKE, YOU'VE GOT TO DO THAT. CAN'T DO THAT AND THEN JEN WAS LIKE, NO, YOU HAVE TO DO THAT. YOU GUYS.

>> IT WAS LIKE THE REALEST MOMENT AS A WOMAN WHO'S EVER LIKE PUT ON AN OUTFIT SHE CAN'T WAIT TO GET OUT OF.

>> PLUS THE LINE SHE SAYS AT THE TIME, LOOK, LIFE ISN'T PERFECT. POP.

>> LIKE A FUN BOOB GRAB MOMENT WHICH IS SOMETHING WOMEN DO. THEY WERE LEGITIMATE FRIENDS.

>> THERE WAS A LOT OF BOOB GRABBING FROM WOMAN TO WOMAN. I DIDN'T, IT'S THE THING THEY DO.

>> IT'S A THING.

>> WE COULD NOT DO THAT. WE WOULD NEVER, EVER.

>> CANNOT DO THAT. AND THEN THIS REALLY AMAZING SUPPORTING CAST WITH ANALEIGH AND THE WAY YOU WERE ABLE TO BRING OUT THESE COMEDIC PERFORMANCES BUT THEY REALLY GOT TO SHINE IN THIS MOVIE.

>> ANALEIGH ASHFORD IS, WOW, I WON'T SAY HOW OLD SHE IS. VERY YOUNG AND ALREADY WON TWO TONY'S. SHE IS AMAZING. CHARLENE YEE HAS SUCH A FOLLOWING. SHE IS THE REAL DEAL. WHEN YOU HIRE CHARLENE, YOU BETTER WANT THAT AS YOUR CHARACTER. SHE'S SO FRESH AND UNIQUE. THE FIRST THING THEY SAID, LOOK AT WHO'S IN THE CAST. CHARLENE'S IN THIS MOVIE? SHE'S AN ARTIST. SHE'S A POET. YOU CAN FOLLOW HER ONLINE. I MEAN, SHE'S REALLY TALENTED AND FUNNY.

>> I FEEL LIKE THIS WAS A REALLY BIG GOOD MOMENT FOR HER. REALLY, DEFINITELY. SO SPEAKING OF SECOND ACTS, YOU GUYS HAVE OBVIOUSLY MADE SUCCESSFUL CAREERS IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY, BUT LET'S SAY TOMORROW, YOU'RE LIKE, I'M DONE ACTING OR DIRECTING. WHAT WOULD YOUR SECOND ACT BE OR A PROFESSION YOU'VE BEEN CURIOUS ABOUT OR WOULD LIKE TO TRY?

>> I WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. HONESTLY. NO, I REALLY DON'T, I REALLY WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

>> THAT'S SO ARTISTIC OF YOU TO SAY THAT.

>> LIKE, I HAVE A NEED TO BE HERE AND A NEED TO BE A PART OF AN ARTISTIC COMMUNITY, SO I GUESS I'D PROBABLY FIND MYSELF SOMEWHERE IN THE ARTS IN SOME OTHER WAY OR JUST KIND OF LIKE, I REALLY DON'T KNOW.

>> WOULD YOU EVER WANT TO DO ANYTHING ELSE LIKE DIRECTING?

>> I STARTED DIRECTING WHEN I WAS 25. I HAD A PRODUCTION COMPANY THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS, SO YEAH. I DON'T KNOW. PROBABLY JUST GO MEDITATE ON A MOUNTAIN SOMEWHERE. I DON'T KNOW.

>> THAT SOUNDS GOOD TOO. WHAT ABOUT YOU?

>> I THINK I'D OPEN A VINEYARD. I'D RUN A VINEYARD. I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS SERIOUSLY. I'D LIKE TO JUST, LIKE, HAVE A TRACTOR AND TILL THE SOIL AND TASTE TEST.

>> CAN I MEDITATE ON YOUR LAND?

>> YES.

>> PERFECT. I'LL HAVE THE WINE. I WANT TO HAVE THE COPPOLA WINE.

>> I'VE BEEN TO THAT VINEYARD. VERY NICE. PETER, I READ THAT YOUR FILMS HAVE GROSSED BILLIONS OF DOLLARS. FROM "TOMMY BOY ", "SECOND ACT,” YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE AN ENERGY OR AN EYE TO BE ABLE TO PICK PROJECTS THAT PEOPLE ARE GOING TO LOVE. SO WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR A FILM TO BE LIKE COMEDIC AND ALSO, TOUCHING AND CONNECTING WITH AUDIENCES?

>> I STARTED OUT DOING JOKE BOOK COMEDY, ALL ABOUT THE NEXT LAUGH. AND THE SCRIPTS, THE “NAKED GUN” SCRIPT WAS 135 PAGES BECAUSE YOU SHOOT WAY MORE THAN IS GOING TO BE IN THE MOVIE BECAUSE NO ONE IS OMNISCIENT IN COMEDY. YOU DON'T EVER KNOW 100% IS GOING TO WORK AND WHAT DOESN'T. THAT'S ONE THING. BY THE WAY, THAT'S THE HARDEST MOVIE I'VE HAD TO MAKE BECAUSE THE CHOREOGRAPHY OF JOKES WITH FOREGROUND AND BACKGROUND, IT'S SO SPECIFIC. BUT WHAT I LEARNED ON MY SECOND FILM, "TOMMY BOY" IS WHEN YOU HAVE MORE OF A STORY AND THE AUDIENCE IS INVESTED IN THE CHARACTERS AND THEY HAVE AN ARK AND THERE'S SOME HEART TO IT. THOSE SEEM TO RESONATE MORE AND LAST LONGER AND SO THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN DRAWN TO AND PRESTON SURGES WITH SULLIVAN TRAVELS IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF THE KIND OF MOVIE YOU THINK YOU SHOULD MAKE AS A FILMMAKER, THAT'S IMPORTANT AND THEN AT THE END OF THE DAY, WHAT'S AWESOME IS JUST TO HEAR LAUGHTER AND TO MAKE PEOPLE FEEL GOOD AND, YOU KNOW, FORGET THEIR TROUBLES AND I THINK THAT WHAT WE DID THE PAST YEAR IS MAKE THAT KIND OF MOVIE AND I THINK THE RIGHT TIME AND YOU GET A LOT OF SERIOUS FILMS AND SUPER HERO THINGS AND AGAIN, THIS IS, YOU KNOW, THERE ISN'T ANOTHER MOVIE LIKE THIS OUT THERE IN THE MARKETPLACE AND IT'S KIND OF RETRO. IT'S NOT LIKE THEY HAVEN'T MADE MOVIES LIKE THIS. THEY JUST HAVEN'T MADE THEM IN A WHILE AND I THINK IT'S THE RIGHT TIME.

>> HAVEN'T MADE THEM AS WELL IN A WHILE AS SOMEBODY WHO SAW THE MOVIE AND REALLY ENJOYED IT. MY LOVE FOR YOU, WE'VE SEEN YOU RECENTLY IN DRAMATIC STUFF AND THIS ONE, YOU KIND OF GET TO PLAY A FUN LOVING ENCOURAGING SUPPORTING LOVE INTEREST IN J. LO. IS IT FUN TO GET TO PLAY AND NOT HAVE THE SERIOUS WEIGHT OF DRAMA?

>> IT'S FUNNY. I THINK THE AUDIENCE CARRIES THE WEIGHT OF “THIS IS US,” WHEREAS WE ON THE CAST, WE LAUGH AND SEE THE LIGHTER MOMENTS. I KNOW, I FEEL LIKE EVERYBODY IS ALWAYS CRYING BUT JACK BUT IT WAS RELIEVING, TO PLAY ANOTHER GOOD GUY THERE SUPPORTING THIS GIRL, BELIEVING THIS GIRL, REALLY TRYING TO INSPIRE HIS GIRL TO THE GREATNESS THAT HE SEES IN HER.

>> SPEAKING OF "THIS IS US," DO YOU CRY WHEN YOU WATCH IT LIKE THE REST OF US?

>> I DO. BUT IT'S A WEIRD THING. I LIKE CRY AS JACK FOR THE KIDS OR FOR THE WIFE, LIKE, WHEN MANDY MOORE IS GOING THROUGH SOMETHING, IT BREAKS MY HEART OR THE KIDS GO THROUGH SOMETHING, IT BREAKS MY HEART. WE HAD AN EPISODE THIS SEASON. THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME I CRIED FOR MY CHARACTER AS AN AUDIENCE MEMBER SEEING THE WEIGHT HE CARRIED FOR HIS TIME IN VIETNAM IN THE WAR. THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME, BUT YEAH, I CRY. I'M A SOFTY LIKE ANYONE ELSE.

>> WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF GETTING INTO JACK'S BACK STORY AND TELLING THIS VIETNAM STORY THAT I'M SURE A LOT OF VIEWERS HAVE PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS TO?

>> KNOWING THAT I ALREADY KNEW EVERYTHING ABOUT HIS LIFE IN HIS OLDER YEARS. 36 ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL 54 WHEN HE DIED AND HAVING TO GO BACK AND FORGET THAT, UNLEARN WHAT I'VE SEEN AS THIS MAN AND GO BACK TO A YOUNGER TIME WHEN HE HAD FAMILY STRUGGLES AND HE WAS JUST THERE PROTECTING HIS BROTHER AND HE HAD NO IDEA WHO REBECCA MALONE WAS. THAT WAS THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF IT WAS STRIPPING AWAY WHAT WE'D ALREADY BUILT FOR TWO SEASONS AND GOING BACK TO A MAN WHO'S JUST FINDING HIMSELF, LIKE, COMING INTO HIS OWN.

>> I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT AS AN ACTOR'S PROCESS BECAUSE WHEN WE WATCH IT, WE'RE USED TO WATCHING BACK AND FORTH BUT FOR YOU, YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR MINDSETS GOING INTO THESE DIFFERENT ERAS.

>> DEFINITELY AND THEN I'M CONTINUALLY MIRRORING MY PARENTS' ERA, YOU KNOW, SO I THINK IT GIVES ME, A SON, A LITTLE MORE UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THEY WENT THROUGH FROM BEING BORN IN THE '40s AND THEN ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL WHERE THEY FIND THEMSELVES NOW.

>> I LOVE THAT. I COULD TALK ABOUT JACK ALL DAY, BUT I THINK IT'S GOOD WE GO TO THE AUDIENCE RIGHT NOW FOR QUESTIONS. BE FIRST.

>> HI.

>> HOW'S IT GOING?

>> GOING GREAT. HOW ARE YOU?

>> GREAT.

>> I HAVE A QUICK QUESTION. SPEAKING OF "THIS IS US," ARE THERE ANY CAST MEMBERS THAT ACTUALLY REALLY STRONGLY RESEMBLE THEIR CHARACTER?

>> THERE HAS TO BE A NOTE, YOU KNOW, THAT ALL OF THESE ACTORS SHARE WITH THEIR CHARACTERS. I THINK THE ONE THING I CAN SAY ABOUT ALL OF THEM WITHOUT KIND OF HIGHLIGHTING ONE OR THE OTHER IS JUST, THEY'RE ALL SUCH BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE AND THEY REALLY PUT THAT BEAUTY AS A HUMAN BEING INTO THEIR PERFORMANCE.

>> THAT MAKES ME REALLY HAPPY. THANK YOU.

>> NEXT QUESTION.

>> QUESTION FOR MILO. IF YOU COULD GUEST STAR IN ANY OTHER TV SHOW CURRENTLY RUNNING, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHO WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR CHARACTER TO BE?

>> MAYBE GO TO LIKE “BROOKLYN NINE NINE” AND BE A CRIMINAL. I'M BUDDIES WITH ANDY SAMBERG, SO ANY CHANCE TO GET BACK ON SET WITH HIM.

>> ONE MORE QUESTION.

>> HI, HOW ARE YOU?

>> YOU TOOK A STEP FORWARD.

>> BY THE RULES. SHE SAID COME.

>> ONE STEP CLOSER.

>> I'M A RULE FOLLOWER. ANYWAYS, COMING BACK TO THE MOVIE AND YOU TOUCHED ON IT A LITTLE BIT WHEN YOU STARTED THE INTERVIEW WAS ABOUT THAT YOU WERE SOUGHT OUT SPECIFICALLY BY JENNIFER FOR THIS ROLE. SO RECENTLY, I HAD READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT THAT AND HOW DID THAT COME ABOUT? DID SHE PERSONALLY CALL YOU? DID ONE OF HER PRODUCERS CALL YOU? DID YOU KNOW THE CALL WAS COMING? AND --

>> WHAT WAS MY CARRIER, MY PROVIDER? IT WOULD BE FUNNY, MY PHONE JUST RINGING, HEY, THIS IS JENNIFER LOPEZ. LIKE, UM, NO, I KIND OF KNEW IT WAS COMING THROUGH MY REPS, THEY SAID. THERE'S THIS MOVIE, "SECOND ACT," JENNIFER LOPEZ, PETE SEGAL AND JENNIFER WANTS YOU FOR THE ROLE. NOT A SECOND OR THIRD CHOICE, BUT YOU. IT AUTOMATICALLY PUTS THIS EXCITED PRESSURE, OH, MAN, LET ME READ THE SCRIPT. I SAW HER VERY MUCH IN THIS ROLE AND I'VE KNOWN PETE'S FILMS, SO I KNEW I WAS IN GOOD HANDS AND I LIKED THE CHARACTER AND THEN JEN AND I HOPPED ON A FACE TIME AND TALKED ABOUT IT AND THEN WE ALL GOT TOGETHER AND SAT DOWN WITH THE SCRIPT AND KIND OF KICKED AROUND, YOU KNOW, THE RELATIONSHIP AND WHAT WE WERE ALL WANTING TO DO AND THEN IT WAS LIKE, GREAT, LET ME JUST FIGURE OUT THE SCHEDULE. GET AWAY FROM THE BURNING HOUSE OF THE PEARSONS AND JUMP ON BOARD WITH ROMANCE AND JENNIFER.

>> GOOD MOVE. PETER, I WANT TO END WITH YOU. WHAT DO YOU WANT THE CONVERSATION TO BE WHEN PEOPLE ARE SITTING AT DINNER OR TALKING TO THEIR FRIENDS?

>> WASN'T THAT FUN? I THINK WE'RE ENTERTAINERS AND WANT PEOPLE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME, TAKE THEIR MIND OFF THING, DO CHRISTMAS SHOPPING AND JUST HAVE A LAUGH AND A CRY. YOU KNOW, IT'S JUST A FUN NIGHT.

>> DEFINITELY. AND BEFORE WE GO, I THINK WE FOUND A PICTURE OF YOU WHEN WE WERE AT BUILD TRYING TO POSITION YOURSELF TO SEE, YEAH.

>> AND LIKE THE DOOR WAS OVER HERE. AND THERE WAS NO WAY I COULD REALLY WATCH IT AND KEEP MY COOL. I HAD A SLING, A BUSTED ARM AND YEAH.

>> GUYS, THIS IS WHERE IT ALL STARTED. AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT I'M GOING TO SAY.

>> I DID ENJOY THE MOVIE SO MUCH. IT WAS A FUN RIDE BUT ALSO, IT DID MAKE ME THINK A LOT AND I HAD FUN CONVERSATIONS WITH MY FRIENDS, SO I HOPE YOU TAKE THE TIME TO CHECK IT OUT ON DECEMBER 21ST.

>> THANK YOU GUYS. APPRECIATE IT.

>> THANKS.
