>> WHAT'S GOING ON, I'M KEVAN KENNEY AND WELCOME TO THE WEEKEND LISTEN BUILD SEGMENT WHERE WE RECOMMEND NEW MUSIC FOR YOU TO CHECK OUT AT HOME. I'M JOINED BY TWO TREMENDOUS GUESTS TODAY, BOTH GOT THE DENIM MEMO. I WILL BEGIN WITH ESQUIRE'S MADISON VAIN.

>> THANKS FOR HAVING ME.

>> AND ALT 92.3 MUSIC DIRECTOR, MR. BRYCE SEGALL. I LIKE TO RANK THE APPLAUSE. IT SEEMS ABOUT DEAD EVEN. USUALLY MADISON'S PRETTY POPULAR.

>> WE CAN DO THIS AGAIN AT THE END.

>> THERE YOU GO. BIG FULL CIRCLE MOMENT THERE. LET'S GET TO SICKO MODE, THE BRAND-NEW MUSIC VIDEO THAT DROPPED TODAY. IT'S DIRECTED BY DAVE MEYERS AND IS QUITE THE SIGHT TO SEE. CHECK IT OUT. \M\M \M\M \M\M

>> ALL RIGHT, THERE YOU GO. THAT WAS A LITTLE TASTE OF THE NEW MUSIC VIDEO, AGAIN, DIRECTED BY DAVE MEYERS. BRYCE IS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE MAN WHO HAS CRASHED OR STOMPED OUT BY THE ASTEROID.

>> I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF HE'S OKAY.

>> I KNOW. I'M SURE IT WAS FAKE.

>> YEAH. WELL. AFTEREFFECTS, YOU KNOW.

>> THIS SONG'S BEEN DOING REALLY WELL. IT'S A TOP TEN HIT ON THE BILLBOARD HOT 100 BUT THE VIDEO JUST DROPPED TODAY. WHAT ARE YOUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

>> WE GREW UP DURING THE GOLDEN AGE OF MUSIC VIDEOS AND I LIKE WHEN I SEE AN ARTIST WHO CARES ENOUGH TO HAVE A FULLY FORMED AESTHETIC. IT LOOKS SICK. IT'S WILD TO WATCH AND I WILL WATCH IT AGAIN, WHICH IS THE WHO I WILL POINT, I THINK, AT THIS POINT.

>> AND YOU TALK ABOUT THE GOLDEN AGE OF VIDEO. IT REMINDS YOU OF SOME SPECIFIC ARTISTS AND THEIR VIDEOS.

>> THERE'S A MOMENT WITH THE LIGHTBULBS THAT LOOKS STRAIGHT OUT OF THE KORN VIDEO, "FREAK ON A LEASH" AND PEOPLE WERE SPENDING $1 MILLION OR $2 MILLION AND YOU HAD YOUR PRODUCERS ALL IN THE VIDEOS.

>> IS THAT A SUGE KNIGHT REFERENCE.

>> YES.

>> VERY APROPOS. THERE WERE SOME BIG HEAVY HITTERS BACK THEN, MAC G WAS A BIG ONE, JOSEPH KAHN WHO WORKS WITH TAYLOR SWIFT ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY AND THEN DAVE MEYERS. WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED THIS REVIVAL OF DAVE MEYERS, WHO I THINK MAYBE EVEN WORKED WITH KORN BACK IN THE DAY. I KNOW McG DID. HE'S FILMING THE VIDEO BREATHIN FOR ARIANA GRANDE.

>> SHE'S HAD A RUN OF INCREDIBLE VIDEOS.

>> ALL DAVE MEYERS.

>> AND THEN DAVE MEYERS HAS WORKED WITH TRAVIS SCOTT BEFORE ON A VIDEO SO I THINK THIS IS DEFINITELY A PARTNERSHIP THAT'S GOING TO KEEP GOING. I LOVE IT. I WANT MORE.

>> THAT AESTHETIC IS VERY BACK, THAT '90s AESTHETIC. IT'S VERY PRESENT IN THE ALBUM ART AND IN THE THEMES. THE WAY HE'S DRESSING IN THE VIDEO.

>> DO YOU FEEL LIKE WE'RE ENTERING INTO A GOLDEN AGE OF VIDEO BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE CHARTS ARE WEIGHTING STREAMS AND INCORPORATING YOUTUBE VIDEOS AS STREAMS? THIS IS A PRETTY STRATEGIC MOVE, RIGHT? MOVING DOWN THE CHART, MIGHT NOT EVEN BE TOP TEN BUT IT HAS BEEN HIGHER ON THE HOT 100 AND NOW IS WHEN YOU DROP IS VIDEO.

>> I THINK THAT'S WORKING ON A NUMBER OF WAYS. I THINK IT'S THE SAME MOVE THAT DRAKE USES ON HIS ALBUMS IN TERMS OF PACKAGING LITTLE NUGGETS THAT WE CAN MAKE INTO TABLOID FODDER, THE SAME TAYLOR SWIFT DOES ON HER RECORDS. IT GETS PEOPLE TO RE-STREAM, AND IT LINES EVERYBODY'S POCKETS. WHY ARE THESE ALBUMS SO LONG? GETTING YOU TO HIT THAT REPEAT BUTTON.

>> IT'S ALSO ABOUT KEEPING YOUR NAME OUT THERE. WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT, WHEN YOU ORCHESTRATE A MARKETING PLAN, THAT'S WHAT THESE GUYS DO AND THESE ARE YEARLONG MARKETING PLANS, SO THEY HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO MAKE MORE MUSIC TO PUT THAT OUT AND NEVER FADE AWAY.

>> THAT'S ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS TO DO THESE DAYS AND PROBABLY SOMETHING WE DON'T GIVE ARTISTS ENOUGH CREDIT FOR IS REMAINING IN THE HEADLINES AND REMAINING AT THE TOP OF OUR MINDS. LIKE AN ALBUM LIKE "ASTROWORLD" WHICH CAME OUT IN AUGUST FEELS LIKE AN OLD ALBUM. IT'S FROM TWO MONTHS AGO.

>> WE HAVEN'T BEEN TALKING ABOUT IT AS MUCH UNTIL THIS VIDEO CAME OUT. I THINK IT'S GOING TO GIVE IT THE BOOST THAT IT NEEDS. I THINK THAT WHAT IS THE SONG, NUMBER SIX RIGHT NOW?

>> IT COULD BE.

>> I THINK IT'S AROUND THERE. TO ME, THIS IS SAYING, ALL RIGHT, STARTING TO LAG A LITTLE BIT, IF WE WANT TO DO THAT FINAL PUSH, WE'VE GOT TO GET THIS OUT NOW.

>> MAROON 5, WATCH OUT.

>> IT'S SUPER CONVENIENT TIMING FOR DRAKE, WHO CAME UNDER SHOTS FIRED THIS WEEK. HE NEEDED A "W."

>> YOU'RE ALLUDING TO PUSHA T WHO DRAKE BEEFED WITH OVER A LOT OF DIFFERENT ISSUES AND THEN KANYE WEST IS INVOLVED IN THAT. PUSHA T CLAIMED LIKE FOUR OR FIVE Ws IN THEIR BEEF AND MADE IT LOOK LIKE IT'S UNANIMOUS. IS THIS SOMEWHAT OF A "W," THOUGH, IN TERMS OF DRAKE VERSUS GOOD MUSIC. THIS IS A TOP TEN HIT, AS MADISON JUST SAID, IT'S PROBABLY GOING TO GO HIGHER NOW, IT'S ONE OF THE BIGGEST SONGS OF THE YEAR AND IT'S DRAKE WITH KANYE'S BROTHER-IN-LAW.

>> THAT'S CRAZY. I MEAN, IT'S A WEIRD THING THAT, LIKE, THEY HAVE MANAGED TO CIRCUMVENT THAT SITUATION. I THINK DRAKE'S REALLY GOOD AT LOBBING ON TO ARTISTS WHO ARE REALLY, YOU KNOW, I THINK TRAVIS IS HAVING A MOMENT. I THINK DRAKE SENSES THAT. YOU KNOW, THEY CAN HELP EACH OTHER. IT'S VERY SYMBIOTIC. TRAVIS FEELS PROBABLY THE SAME WAY. I ROCK WITH KANYE, I ROCK WITH DRAKE AND I'M GOING TO GO WHERE IT'S GOOD. AND YOU KNOW, KANYE'S MY GUY AND WHEN HE NEEDS ME, I'LL BE THERE.

>> I'VE ACTUALLY ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT BEEF BENEFITTED BOTH PEOPLE BECAUSE PUSHA T IS A PHENOMENAL RAPPER BUT DOESN'T HAVE, LIKE --

>> WHAT ABOUT ACCORDING TO YOU?

>> NO, HE IS. BUT WHEN YOU GO HOME AND, LIKE, YOU'RE TALKING IN THE MOM CIRCLES, LIKE HE DOESN'T HAVE BRAND NAME AWARENESS. BUT DRAKE DOES. EVERYONE KNOWS DRAKE. HE'S AS BIG AS FACEBOOK AT THIS POINT. SO PUTTING THEM TOGETHER IN A FEUD HELPS EVERYBODY. I JUST THINK THIS IS, LIKE, A CONTINUATION OF THAT. DRAKE KNOWS TO GO TO TRAVIS SCOTT WHO'S ALSO GOT THIS COOL, LIKE, EDGY APPEAL TO HIM.

>> YOU KNOW WHAT'S FUNNY ABOUT SOCCER MOMS OR JUST MAINSTREAM AMERICA NOT REALLY KNOWING PUSHA T IS HE GHOST WROTE THE "I'M LOVING IT" FROM McDONALD'S.

>> IS THAT TRUE?

>> YEAH, ABSOLUTELY. IT WAS AMAZING BECAUSE IT WAS TIED TO THE JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE SINGLE AT THE SAME TIME. IT'S A STORY FOR ANOTHER DAY.

>> THEY'RE EVERYWHERE.

>> THEY ARE. WE'LL GET TO THAT. I WANTED TO ASK YOU ABOUT, JUST, IN TERMS OF TRAVIS SCOTT'S POSITION IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW AND THINKING OF KANYE WEST, FOR A LONG TIME, THEY WERE SAYING HE'S GOING TO BE THE NEXT KANYE, IN TERMS OF AN ARTIST THAT'S ADVANCING SOUNDS, PUSHING THINGS FASHION-WISE AESTHETICALLY, IS THAT A FAIR ASSESSMENT OF, IS HE THE NEW -- NOT THE NEW KANYE BUT IS HE OCCUPYING THAT SPACE THAT KANYE ONCE DID.

>> I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS WITH THAT SITUATION WHATSOEVER.

>> I COMPLETELY AGREE. HONESTLY, THE TESTAMENT TO HIM IS PEOPLE WERE SAYING HE'S GOING TO BE THE NEW KANYE AND HE ISN'T. HE'S TRAVIS SCOTT. HE'S DOING HUGE SHOWS. I THINK HE PLAYED LOLLAPALOOZA. HE WILL BE REMEMBERED AS AN ARTIST OF THIS GENERATION.

>> I THINK HE'S PLAYING MSG IN NOVEMBER.

>> YEAH.

>> IF I'M FREE, BRYCE.

>> ALL RIGHT.

>> WELL, YOU GOT DRAKE AND TRAVIS COLLABING ON THAT ONE. A COUPLE YEARS AGO, DRAKE COLLABED AND LINKED UP WITH FUTURE, WENT ON THE ROAD, ONE OF THE HIGHEST GROSSING HIP HOP TOURS OF ALL TIME AND NOW FUTURE IS LINKING UP WITH JUICE WORLD FOR A NEW ALBUM CALLED "WORLD ON DRUGS." CHECK IT OUT. \M WORLD ON DRUGS, CAN YOU GIVE ME SOME \M \M I DON'T FEEL NO PAIN BECAUSE THIS PILL GOT ME NUMB \M \M THE WORLD ON DRUGS \M \M I CAN HEAR VOICES IN MY HEAD \M \M IF I'M SOBER, THEN I MIGHT BE DEAD \M \M I CAN SEE THE DEVIL IN MY BED \M

>> IT'S A LITTLE BIT OF A BUMMER FOR ME BECAUSE MADISON AND I WERE GOING TO NAME OUR MIX TAPE "WORLD ON DRUGS" AND NOW IT'S BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD.

>> WE'LL BE BACK.

>> SO, IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, THOUGH, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS? HAVE YOU DOVE IN?

>> I DID AND I HAVE JUST SORT OF AN ALL AROUND SHRUG FROM ME. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE IN TERMS OF LIKE THE IDEA OF THE PAIRING. LIKE, FUTURE, LIKE SUPER AUTO TUNE, SYRUPY BEATS AND THEN JUICE WORLD, SORT OF EMO PUNK, SO THEN I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WILL BE LIKE MAGIC AND IT WILL REALLY WORK OUT. INSTEAD IT FELT LIKE A DULLED DOWN VERSION OF BOTH.

>> THIS TO ME FEELS LIKE HE'S DOING WHAT KANYE DID NOT LONG AGO WITH LIL’ PEEP.

>> I THINK A LITTLE BIT, I'LL BE HONEST, IT'S NOT AS WEIRD OF A PAIRING FOR ME BECAUSE FUTURE'S VERY BIG IN THE CODEINE WORLD BUT ALSO SAD. HE'S LIKE A SAD GUY. PEOPLE FORGET. AND LIKE I WAS LIKE, MAYBE IT WILL WORK. BUT IT FEELS DISPOSABLE AND I THINK THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO TALK ABOUT BECAUSE IT IS SORT OF AN EVENT RECORD. AND I THINK, LIKE, MUCH LIKE QUAVO LAST WEEK, THESE TAPES THAT COME, THEY'RE SURPRISE RELEASES, ONE, TWO WEEKS PROMOTED AND THAT'S IT. BUT THEN YOU GET THERE AND THEY ULTIMATELY HAVE 19 SONGS THAT, LIKE, I'M NOT GOING TO BE LISTENING TO NEXT YEAR.

>> THAT'S CRAZY.

>> NONE OF THEM. LITERALLY ZERO.

>> LITERALLY. WHICH IS CONCERNING BECAUSE YOU BROUGHT UP DRAKE AND FUTURE DOING "WHAT A TIME" AND SUPPOSEDLY THERE'S "WHAT A TIME 2" COMING AND I FEEL LIKE FUTURE --

>> WHERE DID YOU HEAR THAT?

>> I GOT MY SOURCES.

>> ALL RIGHT. IMAGINE BEING BIG IN THE CODEINE WORLD, BY THE WAY, OR BEING DESCRIBED THAT WAY. FUTURE IS BIG IN THE CODEINE WORLD.

>> I'M HUGE IN AISLE 6 AT THE PHARMACY.

>> ON THE TOPIC OF FUTURE, HE SEEMS LIKE AN ARTIST THAT'S A BIT LOST OR CONFUSED THESE DAYS. THERE WERE RUMORS ABOUT AN ALBUM AND MAYBE PREORDERS POPPING UP AND HE WAS SUPPOSED TO CO-HEADLINE THAT NICKI TOUR.

>> SHE'S ON THE ALBUM.

>> HE'S NOT ON THE 2019 TOUR, THAT'S BEEN CONFIRMED SO I THINK THIS IS JUST HIM TRYING TO DROP SOMETHING. HE HAS A PRETTY PROLIFIC WORK ETHIC. THIS IS MADE IN FIVE DAYS.

>> SOUNDS LIKE IT.

>> THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING. I'M SO SICK OF THIS WHOLE THING.

>> THAT ONLY WORKS WHEN IT'S GREAT.

>> WE MADE THIS IN FIVE MINUTES. IT'S LIKE, IT SOUNDS LIKE IT. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN?

>> SO YOU THINK IT'S GOING TO COME AND GO HERE, NOT A MOMENT HAPPENING.

>> I DON'T FEEL A MOMENT HERE. LITTLE BABY GUNNA TAPE JUST CAME OUT. THAT WAS REALLY GOOD. THAT'S AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT IT SHOULD FEEL LIKE. AND I FEEL LIKE THIS SORT OF HARKENS BACK TO, YOU KNOW, WE TALKED ABOUT TRAVIS SCOTT AND ROLLOUT PLANS AND TRYING TO STAY IN THE LIGHT. AND I THINK THERE'S A LOT OF THAT GOING ON AND WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THIS IN THE BREAK. THAT I THINK RAPPERS HAVE BECOME VERY TACTICAL AND THEY STUDY PAST CAREERS, AND I THINK IN FIVE, TEN YEARS, THE UPCOMING RAPPERS ARE GOING TO LOOK AT THIS ERA WHERE PEOPLE WERE TRYING TO STAY IN THE LIMELIGHT BY DO YOU THINK THROWAWAY PRODUCTS AND THEY'LL SAY, THAT ULTIMATELY COST THEM BECAUSE THE QUALITY OF THEIR -- THE LIBRARY IS GOING DOWN.

>> WELL, YOU KNOW, I WAS TALKING TO SOMEBODY ELSE ABOUT THIS TODAY AND BACK IN HIGH SCHOOL, THE MIX TAPE ERA, IF YOU WILL, HOT NEW HIP HOP BACK THEN, YOU WOULD GO ON THESE WEBSITES AND FIND NOT THROWAWAY BUT SURPRISE RECORDS OR BIG RADIO DJs FROM DIFFERENT REGIONS WOULD DROP A TAPE WITH A WAYNE VERSE YOU NEVER HEARD BEFORE AND IT WAS WHAT IT WAS. YOU'D GO BACK THE NEXT DAY, NEW TAPES UP THERE. DO YOU THINK THAT THE DSPs, THE SPOTIFYS, THE APPLE MUSIC, DO YOU THINK IT'S OVER LEGITIMIZING SOME OF THESE PROJECTS.

>> 100%. NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT IT THAT WAY.

>> BRILLIANT.

>> HEY. BUT, I WAS THINKING ABOUT THAT. YOU KNOW, WHEN YOU GO ON SPOTIFY AND YOU THINK ABOUT THAT EXPERIENCE AND YOU'RE LOOKING AT AN ALBUM, LIKE A “SCORPION,” WHERE DRAKE SPENT A YEAR, MAKE MORE, THINKING ABOUT THAT AND THEN IT'S RIGHT NEXT TO, LIKE, "WORLD ON DRUGS". WHICH IS, AGAIN, MADE IN FIVE DAYS. VISUALLY, THAT'S GOING TO LOOK THE SAME TO YOU. I THINK YOU'RE GOING TO INTERPRET THAT THE SAME AND YOU SHOULDN'T BE.

>> THEY ALSO MARKET IT THE SAME. THERE USED TO BE THIS DIFFERENTIAL AND NOW PEOPLE JUST CALL EVERYTHING AN ALBUM.

>> OR THEY DON'T CALL EVERYTHING AN ALBUM. WHEN THE ALBUM COMES OUT, THEY'RE LIKE THE DEBUT ALBUM. EVERYTHING'S A MIX TAPE OR A PROJECT UNTIL IT'S AN ACTUAL ALBUM.

>> WHAT'S EVEN REAL ANYMORE?

>> EXACTLY. ARE YOU REAL, BRYCE?

>> SIMULATION, DUDE. SIMULATION.

>> YOU'LL LIKE THIS. BECAUSE YOU'RE A BIG CHAMPION OF THIS BAND. COOL FACT. YOU PREMIERED THIS SONG ON NORTH AMERICAN RADIO, REALLY, I GUESS, NORTH AMERICAN ANYWHERE EARLIER THIS WEEK ON MONDAY NIGHT. IT COMES FROM AN ARTIST NAMED RUFUS. CHECK IT OUT RIGHT HERE. \M I JUST WANT TO TREAT YOU BETTER \M \M I WANT YOUR LOVE AND I WANT IT BAD \M \M I JUST WANT TO TREAT YOU BETTER \M

>> YOU VIBING, BRYCE?

>> FEELING IT.

>> YEAH?

>> ALL RIGHT, WELL, TAKE THIS ONE AWAY, BROTHER. THIS IS YOUR RECORD.

>> I MEAN, THEY'RE THREE AUSTRALIAN GUYS THAT HAVE BEEN COMING UP IN THE ELECTRONIC SCENE AND I FEEL LIKE THIS MIGHT BE A CROSSOVER MOMENT FOR THEM, THEY'RE MAKING A PLAY AT RADIO. WE TALKED ABOUT THEY'RE ON WARNER BROTHERS. THEY HAVE A HUGE CROWD. I MEAN, YOU KNOW, I THINK ODESZA IS NOT A HOUSEHOLD NAME BUT THEY'RE GETTING THERE. THERE'S A FESTIVAL IN MEXICO AND THESE GUYS ARE RIGHT UNDER THEM AND THEY HAVE PASSIONATE FANS AND I THINK A SONG LIKE "TREAT YOU BETTER" ESPECIALLY RIGHT NOW WHEN WE TALK ABOUT THE #METOO MOVEMENT AND WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE WORLD, IT REALLY COULD STRIKE A CHORD WITH PEOPLE.

>> I THINK THEY SAID WHEN THEY WERE REALLY TRYING TO PUT THIS ALBUM TOGETHER, THEY WANTED TO FOCUS ON LYRICS FOR THE FIRST TIME BUT THEY WERE SO FOCUSED FOR THE LAST YEAR ON THIS RECORD THAT THEY BECAME BAD BOYFRIENDS OR ONE OF THEM DID. PRIORITIES WERE OUT OF WHACK. IT WAS ALL ABOUT WORK, WORK, WORK, AND THIS IS A PRODUCT OR A THEME THEY WERE TRYING TO EXPLORE, LIKE WHAT IF THEY HAD DONE SLIGHTLY BETTER AND WE SORT OF REAPED THE BENEFITS FROM THAT ARRANGEMENT BECAUSE I LOVE THIS SONG.

>> INCREDIBLE. IT OPENS THE ALBUM. IT HARKENS BACK TO THE LL COOL J CLASSIC, "LOVE YOU BETTER." SAME MESSAGE.

>> I'M SURE THEY WERE ALLUDING TO THAT.

>> THERE'S A SAMPLE IN THERE SOMEWHERE.

>> IS THERE AN INTERPOLATION IN THERE BY LL COOL J. YOU WERE TELLING ME AN INTERESTING STORY, MADISON, DOWNSTAIRS THAT THERE WAS AN ASCENSION WAS AT BONNAROO AND YOU WERE UP WITH OF THE ONLY PEOPLE WATCHING THEM.

>> IT WAS THE LEAST ATTENDED SHOW I'VE EVER BEEN TO. IT WAS 2016, I THINK, 2016 OR '15 BUT IT WAS IN SUPPORT OF BLOOM, WHICH WAS THEIR MOST RECENT RECORD PRIOR TO THIS ONE. AND IT WAS LIKE LITERALLY ME AND 11 PEOPLE AND I WAS -- I HAD DRUGGED ALL OF MY FRIENDS. I WAS LIKE, NO, THIS IS -- YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE THIS. DON'T WORRY. IT'S AMAZING. AND THEN THEY WERE LIKE, THERE'S NO ONE HERE. THERE'S NO WAY THIS IS GOING TO BE GOOD. WE LOVED IT. EVERYBODY LOVED IT AND WITHIN SIX WEEKENDS WE WERE AT THE PANORAMA FESTIVAL AT NEW YORK AND IT WAS THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE. THE TENT WAS FULL. IT'S NOT LIKE THEY HAD A RADIO HIT THAT REALLY TOOK OFF. IT WAS ALL SORT OF ON THE SPOTIFY AND ALL THE PLAYLISTS.

>> EDM IS REALLY ORGANIC SORT OF GRASSROOTS WORLD THAT IF SOMETHING CATCHES LIKE A COUPLE PEOPLE AND PEOPLE START PLAYING OUT A SONG, ESPECIALLY IF YOU GET TAKEN UNDER SOMEONE'S WING LIKE SKRILLEX OR WHOEVER, THAT'S GOING TO BLOW YOU UP SO QUICKLY IN THE SPHERE. IT'S VERY SOCIAL THE WAY HIP HOP IS ON TWITTER. IT'S TRULY A SCENE WHICH DOESN'T NECESSARILY EXIST FOR POP OR ALTERNATIVE MUSIC AT THIS POINT.

>> SPEAKING OF ALTERNATIVE, YOU AS THE MUSIC DIRECTOR OF ALT 92.3, YOU GET TO CHOOSE WHAT MUSIC IS ADDED TO THE PLAYLISTS.

>> DON'T PUT IT ALL ON ME.

>> THERE'S CERTAIN SONGS. BUT YOU ARE LARGELY INFLUENTIAL IN TERMS OF THE PLAYLISTS OF THE LARGEST ALTERNATIVE STATION IN TERMS OF AUDIENCE IN AMERICA. WHY WAS THIS JUST SUCH A CAN'T MISS RECORD TO ADD THIS WEEK?

>> I THINK WHEN YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW. AND THE LABEL CAME IN AND PLAYED US THE SONG EARLY AND A LOT OF LABELS DO THAT. WE HEAR SONGS ALL WEEK LONG, WEEK AFTER WEEK, AND YOU'RE ON YOUR PHONE, YOU'RE LIKE, WHATEVER, PLUG IT IN, AND THEN YOUR EARS PERK UP, YOUR HEAD PERKS UP. AND THEN ME JUST SORT OF KNOWING THE BAND'S HISTORY, WHERE THEY'RE AT IN THEIR CAREER, THEY HAVE THREE SOLD OUT TERMINAL FIVE SHOWS COMING UP. IT SEEMS LIKE A GOOD TIME TO SAY, HEY, WE CAN TAKE A CHANCE ON THIS, YOU KNOW, DESPITE NOT HAVING ANY HISTORY AT THE FORMAT AND WHERE THE FORMAT'S AT TRULY FEELS LIKE IT CAN EMBRACE STUFF LIKE THIS WITH MARSHMELLO & BASTILLE HAVING WHAT I THINK IS GOING TO BE A NUMBER ONE SONG AND HAVING THIS RECURRENT HIT WITH COLDPLAY AND THE CHAINSMOKERS. WHEN YOU HEAR THIS, IT JUST SPEAKS TO YOU. THE MESSAGE LANDS, SONICALLY -- TO ME, IT REMINDS ME OF COLDPLAY AT TIMES, EVEN.

>> WHAT MAKES IT ALTERNATIVE?

>> I MEAN --

>> AS OPPOSED TO EDM OR IS THAT JUST A GRAY AREA THESE DAYS.

>> I THINK IT IS A GRAY AREA THESE DAYS. I THINK THERE ISN'T LIKE A HUGE DROP. IT'S NOT -- I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT WAS.

>> NEVER DO THAT AGAIN.

>> BANNED FROM THE SHOW. I THINK THE TRUTH IS THAT IT DOES, IT HAS A LITTLE BIT OF THAT COLDPLAY SOUND TO ME. I THINK IT HAS A TRADITIONAL SONG STRUCTURE. IT DOESN'T FEEL POP, NECESSARILY. DO YOU FEEL LIKE IT'S POP?

>> I FEEL IT'S ON A POP GRID THAN AN EDM GRID. IT CERTAINLY BUILDS IN A NORMAL, TOWARDS A HOOK, TOWARDS A REFRAIN AND ALL THESE THINGS SO I THINK IT'S MORE POP. BUT I MEAN, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT POP IS AT THIS POINT.

>> I THINK ALTERNATIVE HAS BECOME A CATCHALL PHRASE THE WAY THAT INDIE ROCK WAS, MAYBE LIKE TEN YEARS AGO.

>> IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE FOR IT TO BE ON AN ALT STATION. IT'S ALTERNATIVE TO WHAT'S WORKING OR WHAT'S EXPECTED AND ALL THAT STUFF.

>> YEAH. YOU KNOW, IF IT CROSSES OVER TO POP, GREAT. IF WE CAN BE THE STEWARDS TO THAT AND TO HELP THIS BAND, YOU KNOW, CHAMPION THIS BAND, LIKE, YEAH, ABSOLUTELY.

>> WELL, YOU KNOW WHAT'S NOT POP? GRETA VAN FLEET. WE GOT AT “AGE OF MAN."

>> THAT'S THE NAME OF A SONG. THE OPENING SONG ON THE ALBUM.

>> I'M A MASSIVE GRETA FAN AS YOU CAN TELL. LET'S CHECK OUT "AGE OF MAN" RIGHT HERE. \M\M \M\M

>> YEAH! ALL RIGHT. CLASSIC ROCK IS BACK OR MY ROCK IS GETTING BACK TO ITS CLASSIC ROOTS. WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF GRETA VAN FLEET AS A BAND? I KNOW YOU ARE A FAN.

>> I AM A FAN AND I JUST FEEL LIKE WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THIS BEFORE THE SHOW STARTED. I THINK PEOPLE ARE THINKING A LITTLE BIT TOO HARD ABOUT IS IT A LED ZEPPELIN RIPOFF, WHO CARES. THEY'RE NOT TRYING TO REINVENT THE WHEEL.

>> YEAH, MAN, DRINK SOME BEERS. COOK SOME HOT DOGS!

>> I THINK THEY RANGE FROM 19 TO 22. IT'S TWO TWIN BROTHERS, THEIR YOUNGER BROTHER AND A FAMILY FRIEND. THEY'RE FROM MICHIGAN. OBVIOUSLY THEY LOVE LED ZEPPELIN. I THINK YOU HEAR A LOT OF RUSH WHEN YOU LISTEN TO THEM AS WELL AND I THINK IT'S COOL THAT THEY WANT TO TRY IT ON. WE SHOULD REMEMBER THAT PRETTY MUCH EVERY ROCK BAND AT ONE POINT GETS STARTED TRYING TO SOUND LIKE LED ZEPPELIN. THEY'RE AHEAD OF THE GAME. I LOVE THEM. I'M IN.

>> WE HAD ACE FREHLEY ON THE SHOW AND WE WERE HANGING OUT. YOU KNOW ACE. WE WERE TALKING IN THE BACK AND HE WAS LIKE, YEAH, YOU KNOW, NO ONE'S REALLY DOING THAT SOUND THAT WE DID, THAT CLASSIC ROCK SOUND AND I WAS LIKE, WHAT ABOUT GRETA VAN FLEET? AND HE WAS LIKE, LET'S GO TAKE PICTURES. HE DIDN'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT. BUT DO YOU DOCK THEM AT ALL, ANY POINTS, BRYCE, FOR JUST KIND OF -- I DON'T WANT TO SAY THEY'RE IMPRESSIONISTS AND I'VE TALKED ABOUT THIS WITH LINDSEY PARKER ON THE SHOW BEFORE. BUT, LIKE --

>> NO. I MEAN, TO ME, I THINK THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT MUSIC IS THAT I BELIEVE YOU. IS IT AUTHENTIC? THESE GUYS, IF THEY SOUND LIKE LED ZEPPELIN, GREAT. THEY SAY THEY DON'T. I'M SURE THEY HATE THIS DISCUSSION. BUT TRUTH IS, IF THEY DO OR THEY DON'T, I REALLY BELIEVE THEM. WHEN HE SINGS LIKE THAT, HE'S NOT FORCING -- THAT'S WHO HE IS.

>> THEY'VE SAID PUBLICLY THEY'RE NOT LED ZEPPELIN FANS?

>> I THINK, LIKE, HE SAID THAT HE HAD NEVER HEARD LED ZEPPELIN WHEN HE STARTED SINGING THAT WAY.

>> THAT'S RIDICULOUS.

>> WHEN THEY FIRST PREMIERED THEY HAD A WEBSITE AND IT DIDN'T EVEN LIST LED ZEPPELIN ON THEIR INFLUENCES BUT IT'S SO CLEAR AND I THINK WITHIN SIX MONTHS, THAT WAS UPDATE AND HAD THEY STARTED ANSWERING INTERVIEW QUESTIONS SAYING THAT OF COURSE IT'S ONE OF THEIR BIGGEST INFLUENCES AND ROBERT PLANT HAS SAID HE THINKS THE LEAD SINGER IS A NICE LITTLE SINGER.

>> SHOTS.

>> HIS VOICE IS AMAZING.

>> I SAW THEM PLAY BEFORE THEY STARTED -- RIGHT BEFORE THEY POPPED OFF, BECAUSE WORKING IN MUSIC, YOU GET THESE WEIRD OPPORTUNITIES. AT A POOL PARTY. LIKE OF ALL THINGS.

>> YOU SAW THEM PERFORM AT A POOL PARTY.

>> AT THIS LITTLE STAGE.

>> NOT LIKE A DUDE'S POOL PARTY.

>> ME AND FIVE DUDES WITH THE HOT DOGS AND THE BEERS. NO, THEY WERE AT THIS POOL PARTY AND EVERYONE, IT WAS LIKE A HUGE GRASSY AREA AND PEOPLE CAME OUT OF THE POOL, PEOPLE CAME FROM AROUND THE CORNER AND THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO PLAY THREE SONGS AND LITERALLY THE AUDIENCE WOULDN'T SHUT UP SO THEY HAD TO WOMAN  -- COME BACK AND PLAY A FOURTH.

>> THEY'RE DOING MULTIPLE NIGHTS AT TERMINAL FIVE WHEN THEY COME BACK IN NOVEMBER AND I THINK THAT THE FACT THAT WE HAVE A ROCK BAND THAT PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT AND THAT IS ALSO COMMERCIALLY VIABLE, YOU CAN'T IGNORE IT WHATSOEVER. AND THEY ROCK LIVE. THEY'RE SO FUN. THEY'VE GOT A WHOLE LOOK ABOUT THEM. AND THEY'RE JUST CLEARLY DELIGHTED TO BE UP THERE AND HAVING THIS MOMENT.

>> THEY HAVE SAID IN TERMS OF INFLUENCES, YOU KNOW, ACTUALLY, I'M MISSPEAKING. THE STRUTS, WHO ARE ANOTHER BAND, KIND OF DOING THIS CLASSIC ROCK SOUND, THEY HAVE -- WHY DID YOU LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT? THEY CITE THE DARKNESS AS WHAT HAS INFLUENCED THEM BECAUSE THEY WERE, YOU KNOW, AN IMPRESSIONABLE AGE WHEN THE DARKNESS CAME OUT. THE DARKNESS, TO ME, ARE LIKE JUST -- I DON'T KNOW, LIKE A FUNNY ONE-HIT WONDER FROM THE EARLY 2000s. SHOULD WE BE TAKING GRETA MORE SERIOUSLY? THERE ARE THESE TRENDS WHERE CLASSIC ROCK WILL POP IN AGAIN.

>> I THINK SO. I ALSO THINK THE AGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE STRUTS AND THE DARKNESS IS MUCH WIDER WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT GRETA VAN FLEET AND LED ZEPPELIN. THERE'S AN EXTRA DECADE IN THERE. THEY'RE SO YOUNG. SO I THINK THEY DEFINITELY HAVE STUDIED THIS. THEY DIDN'T GROW UP HEARING ANY OF THIS MUSIC OTHER THAN -- UNLESS THEIR PARENTS WERE PLAYING IT AND THEY HAVE EVEN -- THERE ARE SOME LINES ON THIS RECORD THAT ARE CLEARLY COPPED FROM, LIKE, LED ZEPPELIN AND PEOPLE AND THEY'VE SAID, SOMETIMES YOUR INFLUENCES JUST REALLY SEEP IN.

>> YEAH.

>> I JUST THINK, STOP THINKING SO HARD.

>> THERE'S A DIFFERENCE, ALSO, LIKE EVEN THE DARKNESS WERE A GREAT BAND. IF YOU LISTEN TO -- I DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE EVER DID, I LISTENED TO THAT RECORD.

>> YOU LISTENED TO THE DARKNESS RECORD.

>> YEAH, IT'S GREAT. PERMISSION TO LAND, RIGHT?

>> IS THAT THE NAME OF THE RECORD?

>> IT WAS LIKE A BOSTON KIND OF ARTWORK.

>> YEAH, YEAH. VERY -- VERY INSIGHTFUL. I THINK THAT, LIKE, TO BE HONEST WITH YOU, THE STRUTS, I FEEL LIKE, ARE A DIFFERENT VEIN THAN THESE BANDS. I FEEL LIKE GRETA, AGAIN, IT'S COMING FROM AN HONEST PLACE.

>> AGREE.

>> AND I THINK THAT DARKNESS, TOO, WAS COMING FROM AN HONEST PLACE. MIGHT HAVE BEEN A SILLIER PLACE BUT YOU CAN KIND OF TELL WHEN OTHER PEOPLE ARE FORCING IT. I'M NOT GOING TO NAME NAMES.

>> WELL, CERTAINLY THIS NEXT ARTIST IS NOT FORCING ANYTHING AND THIS HAS REALLY TURNED INTO THE BRYCE PRAISE HOUR BECAUSE YOU ALSO PREMIERED THIS SONG ON 92.3 THIS WEEK. IT COMES FROM LIL PEEP AND IT'S A MUSIC VIDEO FOR HIS NEW SONG, "CRY ALONE." \M\M \M\M

>> WHAT A SEGUE. JUST DID A LOT OF BLOW RIGHT NOW INTO WHATEVER I'M ABOUT TO SAY. SO, I'M GOING TO START WITH YOU, BRYCE, BECAUSE YOU PLAYED THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER PROBABLY ANYWHERE IN THE U.S. ON A RADIO.

>> LAST NIGHT.

>> YEAH. I WAS THERE.

>> YOU WERE THERE.

>> WHY PLAY THIS SONG AND WHY DO YOU BELIEVE IN THIS SONG IN.

>> I JUST THINK THAT THIS DEFINES ALTERNATIVE TO ME. IT'S A DEJECTED KID, YOU KNOW, IT'S A SOUND COMBINING BOTH ROCK AND ELEMENTS OF HIP HOP, EMO, I THINK THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO HIGHLIGHT, LIKE, WHAT'S HAPPENING THAT MAY BE, YOU KNOW, THINKING ABOUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN COMMERCIALLY VIABLE. IT PROBABLY WON'T BE AS COMMERCIALLY VIABLE BECAUSE OF HIS SITUATION OF NOT BEING WITH US ANYMORE, BUT I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT TO JUST PUT ON PEOPLE THAT MAYBE MIGHT UPSET AN OLDER AUDIENCE. WE GOT A LOT OF NEGATIVE FEEDBACK FROM OLDER PEOPLE THAT DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS WAS. THEY WERE LIKE, WELL, WHAT IS THIS?

>> REALLY?

>> THAT'S WHAT'S GREAT ABOUT IT. WHAT IS IT? IT'S ALTERNATIVE. IT'S THE MOST ALTERNATIVE THING YOU CAN BE.

>> BRYCE WAS ALSO FIGHTING THOSE OLD MEN ON FACEBOOK TODAY.

>> SOMETIMES YOU JUST GOT TO.

>> GOT TO STAND YOUR GROUND, I GUESS. MADISON, WHAT DOES ALTERNATIVE MEAN TO YOU?

>> I THINK IT'S JUST THAT, WHAT YOU WERE SAYING, SOMETHING THAT IS COUNTER TO THE NORM OR NOT UPSETTING TO A GENRE BUT SOMETHING THAT BENDS IT IN A WAY THAT DOESN'T MAKE MUCH SENSE UPON A FIRST LISTEN. I WOULD AGREE THIS IS ALTERNATIVE. I JUST THINK IT'S DEPRESSING AS HELL TO LISTEN TO. LIKE, I -- I LISTENED TO IT FOR THIS AND I WAS LIKE, I DON'T KNOW. I DON'T THINK I CAN REVISIT IT. I DON'T THINK I CAN.

>> 40 TIMES LAST NIGHT.

>> I CAN'T DO IT.

>> WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT ME.

>> IT'S TOO DARK AND THE WHOLE WAY IT ENDED, YOU WISH THAT HE WOULD HAVE FIGURED IT OUT BEFORE ANY OF THIS.

>> WHAT DO YOU GO TO IN YOUR EMO PHASES? IF IT'S NOT THIS, IF YOU'RE LIKE YOU JUST WANT TO ROCK OUT.

>> I'M A ROCK GIRL. I JUST GO TO THE WHITE STRIPES FOR EVERYTHING.

>> THAT'S LIKE YOUR -- YOU NEVER GO THE EMO ROUTE.

>> NO. I'LL GO, LIKE, VERY SAD.

>> YEAH.

>> I'LL DO POWER BALLADS.

>> INTERESTING.

>> BUT I SKIP SORT OF OVER EMO.

>> DO YOU EVER TAKE INTO ACCOUNT, LIKE, AN ARTIST'S INFLUENCE WHEN YOU'RE CONSIDERING WHAT GENRE THEY ARE. BECAUSE IF YOU LOOK AT PEEP, GOOD CHARLOTTE WAS HIS NUMBER ONE BAND, AN ALTERNATIVE BAND THAT BECAME A POP BAND. BUT A LOT OF THESE NEW RAPPERS, JUICE WORLD WILL CITE, YOU KNOW --

>> TRIPPY RED, WHO WE'VE TALKED ABOUT ON THIS AS WELL. THAT'S EMO AND YOU THINK ABOUT THOSE CONFLUENCE OF INFLUENCES BUT THESE KIDS ARE RAISED ON PLAYLISTS, NOT ON GENRES OR ALBUMS SO IT'S ALL BLENDING TOGETHER.

>> LET'S GET TO, I BELIEVE THE ONLY THING WE HAVE LEFT TO TALK ABOUT IS -- I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M INTRODUCING THIS ON BUILD RIGHT NOW. THIS IS BRYCE'S THROWBACK PICK OF THE WEEK, LIMP BIZKIT AND IT'S THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR "NOOKIE." \M\M \M\M

>> THERE YOU GO. THAT WAS LIMP BIZKIT, "NOOKIE" ON BUILD WEEKEND LISTEN.

>> YOU LOVE IT.

>> I DO LOVE LIMP BIZKIT. IT'S JUST ABRASIVE IN THE STUDIO. I DON'T THINK MADISON HAS MUCH TO SAY.

>> I HAVE SO LITTLE TO SAY ABOUT IT.

>> THEIR FAN ARMY FROM BACK IN THE DAY. WHAT ARE YOUR MEMORIES OF THIS MOMENT, MADISON?

>> WHAT WAS THIS, 1999? I WAS TEN. I THINK I REMEMBER THAT IT EXISTED.

>> WERE YOU INTO IT AT ALL, THIS WHOLE NEW METAL MOMENT THAT WAS GOING ON?

>> NO.

>> NO TIME FOR IT. WELL, BRYCE WAS VERY INTO IT.

>> THIS WAS YOUR THING.

>> I HAD SOMEBODY RIPPED THIS ON CASSETTE FOR ME BECAUSE MY PARENTS WOULDN'T LET ME BUY IT AND I WOULD CARRY MY WALKMAN AROUND BUMPING FRED AND THE GANG.

>> WHAT PURPOSE DID IT SERVE? IT WAS YOUR OUTLET.

>> I NEVER HEARD ANYTHING LIKE THAT. I THINK THIS BAND, LIKE, YEAH, I UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE CLOWN ON THEM AND FRED DURST AS A CHARACTER IS -- AND THE LYRICS ARE QUESTIONABLE. BUT WHAT THEY WERE DOING WAS REALLY INTERESTING. SOME OF THE BEATS ON THE RECORD ARE, LIKE, ACID TECHNO BEATS MIXED WITH HEAVY GUITARS AND HIP HOP LYRICS. WE TALK ABOUT INFLUENCE EARLIER ON THE SHOW BUT THIS BAND, YOU KNOW, MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN THAT SOUND BUT THEY OPENED THE DOOR TO SO MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE COME ALONG SINCE, FOR ME.

>> YEAH. AND IT'S JUST, LIKE, IT JUST GOES, AS YOU LIKE TO SAY. IT JUST -- IN THE SAME WAY WE OPENED THE SHOW, IT'S HARD NOT TO GET INTO THAT SONG AND I MAY SOUND LIKE A DORK SAYING THIS BUT IT'S HARD NOT TO GET INTO SOME BIZKIT SONGS BECAUSE OF THE HEAVINESS TO IT. AND YOU SPEAK TO THE SOUND. DJ LETHAL FROM HOUSE OF PAIN RIGHT NEXT TO WES ON THE GUITAR AND IT WAS TRANSFORMING AT THE TIME.

>> TO BE HONEST WITH YOU, AGAIN, DESPITE LYRICALLY, I THINK IT HOLDS UP. YOU LISTEN TO THE SONICS OF THOSE RECORDS, IT'S A FUN GROOVE. I LISTENED TO IT ON THE WAY OVER HERE AND I WAS LIKE, MAN, I FEEL INVINCIBLE.

>> YOU WERE FRED. YOU WERE LIKE ALL THESE NOOKIE GIRLS BEHIND YOU.

>> YEAH, EXACTLY.

>> WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE CLOWN ON, LIKE, THIS WHOLE MOMENT NOW? I DON'T THINK NEW METAL IS VERY -- I'LL GROUP EVEN KID ROCK INTO THAT. WHY DO YOU THINK THESE ARTISTS, LIKE, YOU KNOW, YOU FORGET THESE WERE NUMBER ONE ALBUMS IN AMERICA. WHY DO YOU THINK THEY DON'T GET THE RESPECT ANYMORE?

>> BECAUSE THINGS DIDN'T AGE WELL. IT REALLY COMES DOWN TO THAT. ANYTHING NEW DOESN'T REALLY AGE THAT WELL. WHETHER IT'S AN EFFECT ON A SONG OR AN EFFECT IN A VIDEO. YOU LOOK AT IT AND IT FEELS DATED AND A LOT OF, LIKE, THE CONCEPTS IN THESE RECORDS FEEL DATED. A LOT OF THE SONICS OF SOME OF THE RECORDS FEEL DATED. CERTAINLY THE AGGRESSION, BECAUSE THAT'S NOT REALLY THAT POPULAR TO BE -- BUT IF YOU LOOK AT, LIKE, TRAVIS SCOTT, LIKE, VERY INFLUENCED BY THINGS LIKE THIS. YOU KNOW, IT'S DEFINITELY LIKE COME BACK AROUND, I THINK.

>> DO YOU THINK SOME OF IT IS ALSO JUST BECAUSE THEY, AS SORT OF CELEBRITIES, HAVEN'T AGED WELL?

>> SURE.

>> IF WE REVISIT THEIR OWN MUSIC IN A DIFFERENT WAY. ONCE THEY BECOME A PUNCHLINE FOR SOMETHING, WE ASSUME EVERYTHING THEY MADE WAS A PUNCH LINE.

>> I THINK THAT'S DEFINITELY PART OF IT. AND I THINK LYRICS -- I'M NOT EVEN A LYRICS GUY BUT I THINK --

>> I FINALLY FOUND SOMEBODY ELSE WHO DOESN'T CARE ABOUT LYRICS. I'M HERE FOR YOU.

>> THE VIBE, RIGHT? I THINK THAT STUFF LIKE THIS HASN'T AGED WELL AND THERE'S A BIG CONVERSATION ABOUT EMO MUSIC OR, YOU KNOW, AGGRO METAL AND THINGS LIKE THAT AND CERTAIN, LIKE, ESPECIALLY HOW DEROGATORY IT IS TOWARDS WOMEN AND IN TODAY'S AGE, LIKE, IT'S HARD TO CELEBRATE DESPITE WHAT THEY WERE DOING SONICALLY, THIS REALLY, ULTIMATELY MISOGYNISTIC MESSAGE.

>> YOU SAID THAT THE AGGRESSION KIND OF WENT AWAY BUT I ACTUALLY WOULD ARGUE THAT AND SAY THE AGGRESSION HAS MOVED FROM ROCK TO HIP HOP. I THINK THAT'S WHERE YOUNG MALE ARTISTS THAT WANT TO MAKE AGGRESSIVE MUSIC, THEY GO THERE NOW INSTEAD OF ROCK. WOULD YOU ATTEST TO THAT, BRYCE?

>> I THINK YOU'RE TOTALLY RIGHT. AND TO YOUR POINT OF ALL THESE ARTISTS, LIKE, YOU KNOW, RAPPERS CITING ROCK BANDS AND THAT ENERGY AND IF YOU LOOK AT -- GO TO A TRAVIS SCOTT SHOW, THERE ARE MOSH PITS. IT'S VERY MUCH THE NEW METAL OF NOW AND WE'LL SEE IF THAT -- YOU KNOW, IN FIVE, TEN, 15 YEARS, WE MIGHT BE LIKE, UGH.

>> SPEAKING OF IT NOT AGING WELL, MADISON, IS THERE ANYTHING RIGHT NOW HAPPENING THAT YOU POINT TO OR IF YOU WERE TO PLACE A BET MAY NOT AGE THE BEST OVER THE NEXT 20 YEARS THAT IS WILDLY POPULAR RIGHT NOW.

>> WE WERE TALKING ABOUT IT DOWNSTAIRS AND NOW I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE BUT POST MALONE. I THINK THAT'S --

>> NO, WE'RE GETTING GIGGLES BUT YEAH.

>> IT'S PHYSICALLY NOT AGING WELL.

>> SPEAKING ABOUT MUSIC, BY THE WAY, FOR YOU AT HOME. DON'T LISTEN TO BRYCE. THE WHOLE -- AND I DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD GROUP POST NECESSARILY IN THIS, BUT A LOT OF THIS, AGAIN, LIKE, QUICK TURN AROUND SOUNDCLOUD FACE TATTOO RAP MUSIC THAT IS, LIKE, ADMITTEDLY IN THE MOMENT DISPOSABLE, I WONDER HOW THAT'S GOING TO BE VIEWED. THAT WILL BE INTERESTING.

>> SIX NINE.

>> PROBABLY NOT GOING TO BE LOOKED BACK TOO FONDLY. NO STATUES OF HIM, I DON'T THINK.

>> ALL RIGHT. WELL, ON THAT NOTE, THANK YOU GUYS VERY MUCH. THE DENIM DUO, I DIDN'T GET THE MEMO, BUT YOU GUYS LOOK GREAT. AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR JOINING US. WE'LL BE BACK AT THE END OF NEXT WEEK FOR A BRAND-NEW BUILD WEEKEND LISTEN AND I PROMISE NO LIMP BIZKIT. I'M KEVAN KENNEY. I'LL SEE YOU SOON.
